| reply to EveryName Oui, très bien.
Je suis né au Québec (Montréal) et j'y ai habité pendant 12 ans. Ma langue maternelle est l'anglais mais je suis allé à une école française jusqu'à la sixième. Donc je n'ai pas d'accent en parlant l'anglais ou en parlant le français, sauf l'accent Québecois.
Je constate que ceux qui apprennent le français hors du Québec ne comprennent pas du tout l'accent Québecois, et que les Québecois ne comprennent pas du tout l'accent des fermiers Québecois ! -- All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing - Edmund Burke. | reply to EveryName It's been many years since I've finished the French immersion in high-school. Sad to say that now I can only speak, listen and read the language. Do not ask me to write a paragraph with-out a dictionary. That would take an hour on my part.
French is becoming my 4th language. So it's at the back of my head now.
But out of common courtesy to fellow francophone's I will talk in French to them and some will reply back in English.
What I do like about all conversations between mixed languages, it's words, expressions and pronunciations that are corrected to better yourself. |

Not to mention that 'second language' means second official language as in, what the government says. It means all government services must come in both English and French.
I took French in high school but I don't remember a thing of it except for words like 'dog', 'pencil,' and 'bathroom'. |
