UPDATE OCTOBER 18: Should have posted this review a long time bak.

Thanks for all ur help guys. Speeds have improved drastically.

Delay in web browsing has improved by a lot. Upload bumped up to around 72kBps from 50kBps. Download is around 400kBps now. I'm loving it. So basically this means there was nothing wrong with my telephone line?

Another Question can the upload not be improved further? I mean 800k is technically 89kBps. If I can get even 80 I would be happier. That's what I was getting with Bell.
Keep this in mind, a properly working 5M/800 line, would actually have speeds at 4300 kbit/670 kbit after overhead so that's 530 kb/s and 83 kb/s ...

You've also gotten really lucky in that bell put you on a 6/800 profile ... so those speeds may get slightly higher...

All that remains is to watch your line for a while. Grab stats with DMT, especially to determine SNR and errors. If things look good, you may be able to get bumped to FastPath from Interleave as well...

In general, if things aren't working out, it is usually easier to try the Direct Forum...if not for anything else, you can explain in detail what you're experiencing and the tech can read and re-read to pick up all the clues...

From what Rocky Posted:

-You're on Interleave

-UpStream
Sync:800
Line Capacity: 78% used
SNR: 5.0
Attenuation:6.0
(That attenuation with that SNR doesn't quite fit, but I bet you're on an IKNS remote, and they're buggy when reporting, Bell knows it but has yet to do something about it)

-Downstream
Sync:6016
Line Capacity: 51% used
SNR: 20.0
Attenuation: 15.0

All in all you have a sweet line...

Hope you have a chance to update your ratings now ...

what's interleave/fastpath?
what do u mean I might get bumped to fastpath?

I understand it's not possible to achieve those exact rated speeds.

I will update my ratings once I verify the
reliability/stability of these speeds. Give me some time.

PS I can't find DMT, is it a software?

DMT (well the copy for the Speedtouch Modems anyway): »www.2cent.de/dmt/v7/dmt.zip

For a list of other compatible modems see »dmt.mhilfe.de/

The difference between Fastpath and Interleave is a latency change. Fastpath has better latency, but Interleave can produce better stability on problematic lines.

It makes no difference whether you're on FastPath or Interleave when downloading a file, where you'd feel the difference is on gaming, streaming and the like...

That's correct, same here with Fastpath 5M/800 line. Nothing is 100%. Not possible unless you are one foot away connecting directly to the server .
