Too many blame things on higher energy prices, but they do it also when they are falling, then many times don't readjust. I'm not the one being hypocritical for pointing out facts. I'll take back my comments if and only if Comcast lowers prices if current trends in the energy markets continue. If they are so sensitive to gas prices that they feel the need to explain it in an increase, then they have opened themselves up to legitimate criticism if prices fall and they don't drop the rates. They would have been better off saying that costs of operations increased.
Simple as that.

I bet they have. Have you been to the grocery store lately ? What about your fast food ? Ya see the trend ? Mc D's used to have almost all "value meals" for under $5.50 Now the cheapest is $5.99 ... Thats rougly a %10 increase , yet cable is only going up near 4%

2.70 is in NJ. I have DirecTv and Verizon, and DirecTV has not raised prices that I know of, although I'm on a 1 year contract.

Honestly, the prices you mention should be coming down too, but they are not. Look at the charts of various commodities like Corn, soybeans, wheat, etc, that have crashed on average about 50%. The gas excuse from Comcast IMHO is a little lame. If they want to use that as an excuse when it goes up, then they should remember that when prices fall.
And, this is about cable prices, not food prices. Also, the things you mention above HAD a double-whammy of higher fuel AND food costs. Comcast can't claim higher food costs can they?

As far as your gas prices, different (more expensive) blends are required by law in California, and your state taxes are higher too. That's why Cal. is always more expensive than NJ for gas.
Our gov't makes up for that break on gas by having the most expensive of everything else though.......
