If you do not have another system and data is important to you, buy a new HD and install windows on it, hook up the old HD and salvagae the data.

during the repair installl i get a popup box which says NVIDIA drivers has not tested...etc...do you want to install anyway.

if i select yes , it will ask me to browse for the file. but i dont have it.

i did get a message during install that NVIDIA geforce Ti4200 driver is not supported/tested by MS...do you want to install...i picked no but that was the only option. that just means it will install MS certified driver right?

I though you finished the repair install, reboot and end up the the 0x7b error. When did you install the nVidia driver?

now it finished the repair install and when it reboots

i get a blue screen "a problem has been detected.... etc..

No, it's not. I had the same problem on a PC I was working on.

Kept looping at the log in screen (Logging in... Logging out). It would show the wallpaper then immediately log out.
You may have the same symtom but you don't have the same problem as OP.

i tried repair install , but halfway thru it gave me this error and i couldnt go pass it.

unregmp2.exe - entry point not found
the procedure entry point GETIUMS could not be located in the dynamic link library MSDART.DLL

so i restarted my computer(changed boot order back to my usual floppy, hdd) but it keep sgoing to windows XP setup. i tried safe mode and i get this message

windows xp cannot run under safemode setup...setup will restart now.

so now i cant get rid of that windows setup

and i cant get into safemode.

it jsut keeps getting worse

Put in the XP install CD and start the computer.

When prompt "press anykey to boot from CD", press any key.

After a few minutes, the first screen, press enter to install XP. (Not R to repair XP with recovery console).

Follow the instruction, and finally, you will end up in a screen that you enter R to repair XP installation.

Caution, the repair install option may not be available if the system has a higher service pack than the one in the CD. You to have to slipstream the CD first.

What I did was:

1. At the Recovery Console command prompt, type cd system32, and then press ENTER.
2. Type copy userinit.exe wsaupdater.exe, and then press ENTER.
3. Type exit, and then press ENTER.

And that allowed me to get back.

It's because Wsaupdated.exe was modified:

so when i turn on my computer and get to the logon screen, i try ot logon to my account and it will say "logging on..." but then immediately say "loggin of...", so i am unable to get to my desktop.

Same thing happens when i try to log in the guest account.

right now i am only able to get to desk top in safe mode.
