| Need for speed *sigh*
EA will release yet another NFS disappointment in November:
Need For Speed Undercover.
It looks exactly like Most Wanted. Just a few new cars here and there.. maybe some different levels and TADA! Slap it all in a box and sell it for $60.
What are these series coming to... ugh. Same old recycled piece of junk. Not to mention.. it is FAR too arcade to be fun. I do enjoy a little bit of arcadish, but this game goes too far.
I'm not even going to bother wasting my money. Let alone even if I knew how to pirate games, I wouldn't bother to since it looks like garbage.
Am I the only one here? |

And one cool thing the old NFS games had: CAR DAMAGE!!! And it also affected the car performance. |

1 edit | reply to jakop92 Undercover is nothing but MW recycled with a few new cars. They advertise it as usual, you know... all the good brand new stuff blah blah blah. Same piece of crap. Literally.. the graphics looks the same. Except for the amount of blur. Looks like the same engine tweaked (to a shittier extent). I mean shoot.. they are trying to milk us of our money since they know there was large fan base for the NFS series.
I agree. Hot pursuit was fun. I absolutely loved porshe unleashed. That was an awesome game. But everything since and including nfs underground has been GARBAGE!!!
I have to say GRID was basically everything NFS should be, with an exception of that it does not have free roaming cities, exotic/european/muscle cars and the po-po. Still much better then NFS trash. |

| reply to jakop92 There are a few new modes added to this game.
quote: »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Need_for_S···dercover Gameplay There will be the return of many ways of racing in Need for Speed Undercover. Sprint, Circuit, Highway Battles (a new mode involving racing on a highway with heavy civilian and police traffic), missions (where the player performs specific missions usually involving the Tri-City Police Department), the "Cops and Robbers" mode, and a new gameplay mode called "The Heist"
Police Little information has been released about Undercover's police system, but it has been confirmed by EA that the police vehicles will include helicopters. The police vehicles will be drivable by the player. EA also confirmed that "there are some modes which give you access to the range of police cars. They're a lot of fun to drive and they have sirens. It has also been mentioned that, "The police are much tougher this time around, they will now preform PIT maneuvers. One named police officer is Lt. Keller.
Online EA has confirmed that there will be an new online mode by the name "Cops and Robbers" where four players will have to deliver a package to a drop point. The other four players will be police trying to stop the transportation of the package. There will also be regular racing online modes from previous NFS games, along with the brand new Highway Battle mode.
Frank Gibeau (President of the EA Games label) has stated that due to the fact that the sales of ProStreet didn't live up to EA's hopes for the game, the Need for Speed franchise will go back to its roots. John Doyle (Developer at EA Black Box) has hinted Undercover will feature a brand new game mechanic and a "Most Wanted-ish" sandbox style of gameplay. It will have an all new damage system.[9] Andy Blackmore, (Senior Vehicle Concept Artist at EA) explained how the Porsche 997 GT2 character car was "conceptualized" in the game and then brought to life for the game from a brief description to being approved by Porsche.
So it's not exactly the same. I don't think the graphics are even the same... it's on a different engine than what Most Wanted used. They may look the same but there could be subtle differences between the two.
I didn't play Carbon or ProStreet, so no opinion on those two titles. I did enjoy Most Wanted though, and since Undercover will allow you to drive the police vehicles I will definitely pick this one up. |

| reply to jakop92 It's a racing game...how much can change?
Undercover features cops, and you can play the cops, just like Hot Pursuit III.
Undercover features car damage, like High Stakes.
Undercover features Porsches and Lambos, much like NFS2.
Undercover has a sandbox world, like NFSU et al.
Undercover, like ALL NFS games except NFS:PU, feature arcadish driving.

I personally prefer the arcade type of racing instead of SIM. SIMs feel too - restricted. Too much like they are fighting the feel of racing to be "Life Like" at the cost of being playable.
I'll try this one, but I don't expect too much from it. -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

1 edit | I'd say the NFS franchise has had some welcome improvements since the the bad ol' days of HP2.
(Yes, I believe HP2 was terrible compared to NFS2 and NFS3. They had police helicopters dropping barrels of toxic waste on you for goodness sakes.)
Rubberbanding and AI cheating has been greatly reduced. Graphics and car selection has greatly improved. We can now drive ricers, exotics or American muscles.
Car customization is a fun activity; whether it makes your cars better or more attractive is subjective, but it's an optional activity.
Demanded features such as cop chases and damage models have been incorporated.
Building these enormous sandbox worlds with destructible environments has been a great addition.
They've added new driving modes such as drifting, drag racing, canyon racing and highway battles.
Clearly the NFS games have CHANGED. One may not LIKE these changes but there's been changes nonetheless. |

| There have been a lot of great improvements, but I would like the roots of NFS series to come back with the current changes we have.
It would be nice to have a more "full game". Exotic series, ricer series, pro/muscle series. Kind of like 3 or 4 games in one. |

1 edit | reply to jakop92 Has anyone else picked up NFS:Undercover? It's actually quite good! I haven't even touched RA3 or WoW in over a week now.
They have finally gotten back to exotic/super cars. Here are a few from the game. - '06 Corvette Z06 - '70 Chevrolet Chevelle SS - '67 Chevrolet Camaro SS - '08 Camaro Concept - '67 Corvette Stingray - '71 Challenger - Gallardo LP 560 - '06 Murcielago LP 640 - McLaren '94 F1 - '07 Benz SLR McLaren 722 - '06 911 Turbo - '06 911 GT3 RS - '05 Carrera GT - Shelby '67 GT500 - Shelby'08 GT500 KR
Graphics are decent, more of the same as Most Wanted, but the gameplay is so fun I can look past the graphics. They have added some new racing modes which are pretty damn addicting.
Highway Battle where you must get in front of your opponent and then gain 1k feet gap before you win, very fast high speeds. (Highways) Escape, evade the cops. (open city driving) Cost to State, rack up X amount of money to the state by taking out cops and just overall being a menace, then evade before time runs out. (open city driving) Outrun, take the lead and then lose your opponent (Open city driving) Then you have the normal circuit runs, sprints, and a few others.
The story line is kind of... bleh, but I really don't care for that. The vehicle customization is a lot better, but could still use more. I spent over a hour and a half last night making a replica of the Nissan Skyline from 2 Fast 2 Furious last night. Turned out pretty good.
The only negatives I have... it's a port and a nasty one at that. The menus are all setup for game pad usage + keyboard which is annoying. The game does have a few bugs and does not like to be alt-tabbed. When modifying car parts the game will freeze maybe 5% of the time. When alt-tabbing, if you alt-tab maybe 5+ times you will come back to 1FPS and will have to restart the app.
Overall, I'm really enjoying the game. Been playing it since last Friday and haven't stopped. I'm really looking forward to getting the Tier 2 and 1 vehicles unlocked. I'm already hitting 194 in my Skyline with Tier 2 parts, I can't imagine what the McLaren or the 911's will do! |

| reply to jakop92 The last NFS that I played and actually thought was decent was Hot Pursuit. Everything after that was royal crap. Hot Pursuit 2 was a damn joke - They made it way way way more arcadey. As another user said - They had police helicopters dropping barrels of toxic goo on you. -- THIS IS SPENCER.
