Does comcast have any hd ppv on any system? God they suck Why would they? About the only thing you still get on traditional linear PPV on cable these days is porn. (with the occasionaly Wrestling or MMA event). Unlike your Sat providers which have a bunch of PPV channels playing all your regular movies, Comcast has moved their pay-movie offerings to VOD, which you can get HD.
I think even those Live events are now showing up on VOD after their live run on the PPV channel, and they may be available in HD once on VOD. Somehow I don't really see it being worth the wasted bandwidth to dedicate an entire HD channel for maybe the 2 live special events on PPV in a month, with the rest just being HD porn. |

I can't speak for other areas, but at least where I am the first PPV channel is the one that usually airs to live events. On days/times when there isn't some sort of big special event, that channel usually shows things like "Jerry Springer: Sex Kittens uncensored", or "Cheaters:Uncensored".... or latenight things like Girls gone wild, "Naked News" or other....harder-softcore kind of fare.
I think with your regular channels they are usually always using the bandwidth. It's probably not easy to build the channels last-minute, plus it greatly increases the chances of a fat-fingering of the setup if they constantly build and remove the channel. I also don't really know how the PPV ordering system and billing would work if the channel really isn't there when you tried to preorder an event. |

| reply to aguiar0016 well I understand why they don't have hd-ppv or even regular ppv channels for movies. It's not needed with on demand. I am fine with that. But for ufc events and now even wwe events (which I don't really watch anymore) I think they should make it an option. They should list it on the guide and at least broadcast the live events when they are on. They would have to suck up bandwidth for not that long. |
