| My friend Hurry...
About 10 years ago I had to have my pet cat and friend, Hurry put to sleep. He showed up on our door steps as very hungry but extremely friendly kitten. He was perhaps one of the most gentlest animals I've ever had the pleasure to know...
Estimating that he was probably 4-6 months of age at the time of his adopting us, for he showed up on our doorsteps, I would guess his age to be 19 1/2 at the time I had to have him put to sleep...
At least once or twice a month I'll have a dream of Hurry... I had one just last night... They always make me feel very sad...
Don't get me wrong, I've had all four of my Grandparents pass away, cousins at early ages, uncles, aunts and school mates pass on. And I would in no way compare the passing of Hurry to a close friend or relative... However I find it very odd this stray cat has touched me in a way I can not truly understand...
Cheers

| Right now I have 2 dogs (14 year old and 7 years old) and 2 cats (both are 4 years old).
I don't think I'm going to get any more animals after my dogs pass away, the same with the cats (which I can expect they'll hang around for at least 10 more years).
Too hard to handle the loss of an animal. -- CheckSite.us | YourIP.US |

| Thanks all for the kind words...
You know what is really odd... I was never a cat person to begin with... Would never hurt one, just didn't find them overly friendly... Hurry proved me wrong...
No plans on getting another pet. I loved Hurry and his passing was very sad but there is a bit of a commitment to a pet and I enjoy my freedom too much...
Maybe in 20 years time when I'm confined to a rocking chair I'll get a lab and perhaps another tabby... However they will have to be of substantial character to come close to the bond and friendship I had with Hurry... |

It breaks my heart to think of the day that we will have to put them down.
It's amazing how attached to our pets we get. Like a member of the family. |

| reply to vue666 Godbless Ken, they touch us in mysterious ways.
Here is a quick analysis of your dream from Dreammoods.com:
To see a pet that has been dead for awhile, suggests that something that you had thought was left in the past is coming back to haunt you. Similarly to seeing your childhood home, a past pet serves the same function as trying to bring you back into that particular time period. A situation in your current life may parallel a situation in your past and the dream is providing a means of resolving it.

| reply to vue666 My dog Joey ran away last week. We figure he got out of the yard, and being a long-haired Chihuahua he probably got scooped by someone for keeps. The humane society outright told us we should never expect to see him again. I'm still numb, trying not to think about it. The sickest part of it all is that we were planning on giving him away anyway, and yet I'm still quite upset.

People who are not pet owners have no idea, they just figure.. eh it's just an animal. |

| yeap, we had to put down 1 of our cats about 5 years ago and it was one of the hardest things we ever did.
One of my cats (not the one in the pic) is 17 years old and she's doing remarkably well. This one here in the pic follows me everywhere I go, when I'm at my computer this is where she sleeps.
If anyone doesn't know what rainbow bridge is here it is.
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.
All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent; His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.
You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.
Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....
