Its possible

I had an issue where I was given an incorrect contract completion date by a Sprint rep. I cancelled based on that false info and got hit with a $200 ($235 after taxes) ETF. I opened a complaint with them and told them I'd be happy to pay a pro-rated ETF, but I wasn't going to pay the full one based on faulty information they provided me, since I had acted in good faith. They agreed to pro-rate it without any problem. So clearly they CAN do it.
