hdtv

I got free hdtv for a year when i signed up for uverse. i am going to drop it when they start charging me as the quality is not that much better. They are going to be craming more channels in compressing them even more? Yeah that the time i say goodbye to the pixelated junk.

The more channels they add does not affect compression at all. It is iptv, so the channel you are watching is the only channel being streamed to you. Though the quality of their HD has room for improvement.

Except that they're trying to push more concurrent HD streams to you on that small copper pipe to compete with cable and DSS.

Speaking of quality, I hadn't seen UVerse HD in a while and was aghast at the pixelization of HD NFL football this past weekend at my in-laws. I'm used to OTA where I can see the freeking blades of artificial grass. On theirs the field looked like a constantly re-adjusting macro-block mess of green play-dough.
