Verizon is superior because it is Fiber to the Home

The real story here is that Comcast has a dilemma: The more it devotes spectrum for data the fewer number of HDTV channels it can offer. Verizon on the other hand because of its GPON fiber to the home architecture provides video on a separate wavelength and has an enormous pipe for data. They can significantly increase data speeds on the fly. That's why the same HD channel on FIOS looks better than on the Comcast network. They have the bandwidth so they don't need to compress as much. I don't see how Comcast will be able to compete head to head with fiber to the home in the long term.
