2 edits | Left 4 Dead - Who's With Me? Who else is going to be playing this with me next month? Can we get a DSLR group together that plays together regularly? I'd rather get some groups together that can learn to play as a team and communicate on the built-in voice chat since this game requires excellent team coordination to succeed. I really don't want to resort to PUGs in this game as I think they are bound for failure. Who else is going to be playing? I already have it purchased on Steam. If you live in a cave »left4dead411.com/ It's the next big game from Valve, completely co-op. You run off alone Rambo style, you die. 1 edit | You act like you played this game. Rambo style will probably work fine like all other games which say you need teamplay. Just need to learn the game and play accordingly.
Also making a group that plays regularly doesn't even make sense, you just need to make the group and hope people play regularly and do your part.
Cease the assumptions General.

Don't take my word for it though, you can play it yourself.

I'm sure you will be just fine without good coordination, of course your teammates will still be putting work in to your advantage. Anyway you can give me the game at any time so I can play it.

If you are playing the survivors with 3 other real people you have to work together. There are places you can't climb without a teammate helping you. If you fall in battle, your teammate has to revive you. If you are low on health and already used your health pack they can give you theirs. The list goes on. The game forces you to work together or you'll never make it through. No, I haven't played it, but my friend is currently. If you are playing as the infected, then teamwork isn't as much of an issue though it still helps.

Maybe if they read the PC Gamer preview of it then they "might" grasp the concept of coop.
*EDIT* I'm JIGA on steam.

| Of course, those elements are all taken into consideration and you have to accommodate for all that, that's pretty obvious. Like in GRAW2 that I played, my team is always stuck on me but I did 90%+ of the work. You people are the ones narrow minded here, open games can be played with different styles not just butt buddy style.
I understand the concept of Coop JIGA, where did you get the impression that I did not.
I look forward to playing with you two.

2 edits | Re: Left 4 Dead - Who's With Me? The term "Rambo" is loose by definition. Just the meaning of is debatable. The game basically make it impossible to play 100% alone, that's just the nature of its design. Call it forceful teamplay if you will. The point I made earlier in the old posts is that within the means this games design one can go "Rambo". Would you not consider one player having near or as many kills as the other 3 teammates combined Rambo? Also, the movie Rambo didn't do things all on his own either, so that's not a valid point.
A loose definition along with a restricted game design. Seems perfectly agreeable to me. Don't get me wrong, this game is awesome and there are plenty of players out there who can beat me.
Btw, on the internet the time between these posts and my old posts are definitely considered ancient. Just try to look up inactive original posts from that time, even in places with low traffic such as this it requires you to go through over 30 things. Just try with a place like digg.

| Re: Left 4 Dead - Who's With Me? Thats not ancient to me. And in your earlier posts (copied below) you were all about how you could do it alone, hence the conversation since then, from your posts now I see that you have changed your mind And when one says "rambo" style they mean they can do it all alone
those comments made by me were about your earlier posts. Im not always right either about a game, but when I see someone bashing a game before they played it that I like I like to be all "rambo" and speak up. Anyways its a great game I think we both agree on that
your words below... "You act like you played this game. Rambo style will probably work fine like all other games which say you need teamplay. Just need to learn the game and play accordingly... ...cease the assumptions General." -- Get cape... wear cape... fly!

| Re: Left 4 Dead - Who's With Me? Your interpretations are a bit off. First of all, you would not be able to provide any basis for that specific "Rambo" definition so I cannot accept that as an absolute truth. It's too easy to just change around what it means this way to suit your argument. Fairly useless to argue. Also the below quoted statement contained the word "probably" which therefore does not make it a assumption as it cannot be taken for granted. Probable just states a higher likelihood. | |

| said by Mchart :Not to terribly excited. They've made it way to 'unrealistic' when compared to George Romero canon - And it's just way to arcadey now. That said, it still looks like it will be a blast. I just don't like the fact that they made such a major shift towards being an arcadey game. In the March 2008 preview in PC Gamer it shows a screen shot with the common zombies in a full sprint. This is a fast combat zombie game. The zombies were inspired by the 28 days later movie which flows well with this game.
quote: »en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Left_4_Dead The Infected
The Infected are Left 4 Dead's foe of the Survivors, and they are partly inspired by the infected from the 2002 film 28 Days Later[17] The Infected, as opposed to the slow, shuffling zombies associated with Night of the Living Dead or Half-Life, are fast and agile, creating quite a formidable foe. They can be dealt with easily on their own, but in great numbers are difficult to defeat. In addition, there are five mutated Infected who have their own special mutant abilities and are more powerful than the regular Infected.
This game is actually targeted towards the competitive counter strike crowd, per what the designers of L4D say. If you want a quote source on that find a copy of PC Gamer Magazine issue 172

| Re: Left 4 Dead - Who's With Me? said by Somnambul33t :i will be buying this as soon as i have the money to do so. Valve has never let me down and L4D looks very good if you actually read up on it. they hired Turtlerock studios into Valve to make the game and the founder of Turtlerock is an AI genious who worked on the Red Alert series. That's one reason why I expect this game to do well, Valve basically is a hitmaker. | |
