home network

ok...the gateway has a page that calls all the devices hooked up to it a "HOME NETWORK" is this in fact true and can files be shared between PCs? What are the transfer speeds or how would one check? I am wanting to serve media on my PC using TVersity to my PS3....MP3s kinda work ok...but videos lag and freeze. Someone suggested a gigabit router....but not sure if that would alleviate or cause problems.

 yes it would be a home network. think of it as a modem with a 4port switch built into it. i have 2 computers, 1 network dvd player, and my vonage adapter on it. sharing files between computers is a little tricky if you haven't done it before but there are lots of good guides on the internet on how to set it up. make sure you search based on the operating systems you want to share betwen. if the computers are all windows, mac, linux, or a cross between any of those will all depend on how you share files.
