| Slow economy
Analysists who thought AT&T U-verse would miss their target probably didn't think it through.
A slower economy may very well slow deployment, but the big stock market crash didn't happen until almost October. At a minimum, AT&T would at least finish out whatever they had started so they can begin to recoup their investment. That sort of pinch is something we'd see more next year.
However, more immediately, people are looking to save a quick buck, and AT&T's generous promotions do just that. They're essentially offering you $200 just to give their services a try, without a contract. AT&T retentions was also offering very aggressive incentives to keep existing customers.
AT&T is no longer offering the first free month of TV, and from what I've read, they've significantly clamped down on the retentions promos. That's a good sign that things are going as planned. They've managed to get their Total Home DVR going and it looks like faster internet speeds and signficantly more HD channels are coming in November. They may not have the most cutting-edge network, and the system still has bugs to be worked out, but overall things are looking pretty good for AT&T U-Verse right now. -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. | We'll have to see how many are going to 'keep' service in the coming months. This is becoming a pretty bleak quarter, and I don't expect things to turn around until spring/summer.
Its been a long time since I've seen stores in Valencia with 'For Rent' that were not new buildings. -- Canada = Hollywood North |
