[IA] Increased Rates

I didn't see this posted, but in the recent Mediacom bill I received, it stated there would be a $3.00 increase on "Broadcast" cable and $1.00 increase on family cable.

I may not be recalling correctly, but usually when they state the increases in the bill, it's usually several months away. Correct? I noticed this bill stated that the changes will take place within 30 days.

30 days is what most franchises require.

Coming in the Quad-Cities (Illinois and Iowa) too:

Looks like it's another $4 a month on my bill.
expanded basic (the Family Package), will go from $54.95 to $58.95.

Wow. I read those comments and have to say some people have no clue what they're talking about...

I just learned something about Mediacom by suffering through the reading of them:

QC Online article comment:
Mediacom is a part of the Comcast corporation

"Mediacom has spent more than a $1 million for new equipment for the mandated digital transition Feb. 17, 2009, she said."
============================
WOW....like one million is a big expense in their size of operation. Give me a break.

For a company that lost $126M in 2006, $95M last year, and is on track to lose money in 2008, I'd suggest that $1M is a relatively big expense.
