Alcatraz Island Private Photography Workshop, the rough cuts

I will be processing these and posting a proper thread shortly (after I'm done selecting and processing). However, a lot of folks wanted to see them as soon as they were done, so here's a link:

All images shot with the Nikon D3, 28-70 or 70-200 VR. All shots are handheld except the rooftop shots and the shot of the oven in the kitchen. ISO ranged from 200 - 6400. Exposure mode was aperture priority, f/4-5.6

Enjoy

Some assembly required, your mileage may vary, no pixels were harmed in the writing of this post. Brain cells, though, are a different matter. You want fries with that?

You know, "THE FAN" did it for me too. There's just something about that shot that's further added to by the context of the "CELL" shot that follows it. The first part of the sunset group is really neat when viewed using the crossfades of the slideshow, too.

Thanks for sharing, this is an overall wonderful series!

The rented equipment also seems to have worked out well.

I like the fan as well. What I like about it is that it looks like sunlight hitting it, though it was pitch black outside. I deliberately skewed the white balance.

I was really wanting a lot of "texture" shots, and if I go to it next year (well, when), I think I may just bolt the Sigma 150 macro on it and really go for texture shots.

I don't know what about the fan shot is, but it really does grab me as well. It is a pretty much textbook "thirds" shot.

I liked 40 thru 56, 76, and 82. How would you have liked to have been in any of those cells in 82. I would eat my heart out to have done something to put me there in the first place place!

I like them all. Makes me want to go out there and experience it for myself.
