Re: Alcatraz Island Private Photography Workshop, the rough cuts I like the fan as well. What I like about it is that it looks like sunlight hitting it, though it was pitch black outside. I deliberately skewed the white balance.
I was really wanting a lot of "texture" shots, and if I go to it next year (well, when), I think I may just bolt the Sigma 150 macro on it and really go for texture shots.
I don't know what about the fan shot is, but it really does grab me as well. It is a pretty much textbook "thirds" shot.
