| Speed Question??
Just yesterday upgraded to the Pro package from Express. Express speeds were good for my distance from CO, about 13,500'. The Pro speeds are much better download, but the upload speeds are virtually the same, not bad mind you but no improvement from Express. Just curious, will this improve or do I need to post in the Direct forum to check for any problems? By the way, the AT&T website is showing we're eligible for Elite, which really surprises me at this distance, with 50 year old copper line between the CO and us. -- SBC/AT&T DSL Express Home 1536 dn. 384 up Dynamic IP Speedstream 4100 Modem Dell 2300 Pentium desktop Dell Inspiron 6000 Laptop D-Link DI-624 Router Firefox 2.0.0.6 |

| I would look to your modem statistics to possibly explain things and to check whether an Elite upgrade would be advisable. If you did not have 15 dB S/N, I probably would not upgrade, myself. Others would would quite reasonably make a different decision.
Yes, I would post into Direct for your situation, after checking to more than one speed test site. Read the info there before posting. |

| reply to bobojay Pro upgrades on CO-connections have a 10-day speed ramp. So normally this is seen as an immediate increase in upload speed and a several step increase in download speeds if the ramp goes well.
About the only time people have failed to see the upload speed increase is when they have set their router to restrict upload speeds. This is done for for P2P purposes (I guess?). |

| said by bobojay :S/N Margin = 12.0 Line Attenuation = 57.5 Not currently planning on going up to Elite I think that is wise for general or gaming use. Given your attenuation, I think you are in a good place.
If you went to Elite, I would think that having them set up an interleaved profile could work, and give bigger downloading/uploading. But there would be slightly longer ping times. |
