[Rant] gullible, ignorant, lazy coworkers

No... they're none of those things when it comes to their actual work. However, I'm sick of the growing minority of them that fall for just about every too-good-to-be-true or too-stupid-to-be-true (etc) rumor out there and then feel the need to babble excitedly about it to everyone!

Yesterday, a bunch of them were all giddy about saving 10-25% on their utility bill with a device being MLM'd by a company called Xedia. I got 3 brochures in my inbox, even. Before I even knew what it was all about, I said I'd look it online. "Oh you can just call the rep if you have questions", I was told... duh.

Today, we've got chlorinated baby carrots »www.snopes.com/food/tainted/carrots.asp

Last week, the dumb ass plan for bailout $ going to individuals came up (for the 5th time). You don't need snopes to rebut this one, though! »www.snopes.com/politics/taxes/dividend.asp

I was seriously approached by some staff about their cell phones a week after that famous pop-corn popping viral marketing ad came out, after the whole thing was rebutted by media. Seriously.

On average, I see stuff like this every other day... when it's emailed, I can just ignore or rewrite filters, etc. I'm just getting real tired of the actual conversations! It's not even fun pushing things the other direction anymore... you'd think I could derive some pleasure from saying something like "You know, baby carrots are not the only vegetable being chlorinated"...

It takes two people to have a conversation.

If you're chatting with a cow-orker and the conversation starts veering off into Stupidland, take that as your cue to look at your watch/a nearby clock and say "Wow, hey, I need to get back to work!" Then bail.

I, like you, have a low tolerance for stupidity and general silliness. But I'm cool with other people being stupid/silly, so long as they don't try to make me an inductee into the Army of the Stupid. When they try to do that, I suddenly find something else that needs tending to and make my escape.

The political spam is the worst for me. I belong to a sim racing group using NASCAR simulation and unfortunately - a lot of these guys would rather believe BS put out without any sources, from an email, because they are to lazy to use common sense; than to believe a place that actually HAS sources and the information link directly to the sources.

Really makes me wonder if their knuckles are kinda bloody from scraping them on the ground all of the time.
