I was a little surprised with the low turnout for the 50Mb
tier with only 2 votes out of 188. It really does say that speed..and PRICE..are both factors in what people want and are willing to step up to the plate to pay for. I didn't think the number going with it would be big..but did expect maybe 5% of people might go with it. Instead..it's barely taking 1% of the votes.

I'm not surprised however with the 22/5 results. It's coming in with a strong showing of about 24% right now. What it offers seems to justify the 20.00 price increase for many even though the standard tier speeds will be doubled. It also offers powerboost which the 50Mb tier does not. Lots of good reasons to stay at this level I think.

And, the big winner is...double our speeds for nothing coming in at 38% so far. Hey...we can't argue with a free Upgrade like that, right? It also seems to be a tier that may draw people away from the 16/2..52.95/mo tier with people willing to accept a little less speeds to save 10.00 a month. That tier though is still hitting about 12% right now.

Other than that..we learned that people who don't have the service love to click something and feel a part of it all anyway. Glad you all joined in. :D

Bit torrent is limited by how many seeders you have. Web downloads are limited to how taxed the server is (and we all know the digg and slashdot effect).

I'm on the 8/2 Performance Plus tier because it comes with my Triple Play Platinum. But I would get the standard internet tier if I was paying normal price for it.

This has been discussed several times on the board before. CCMike from Comcast business has indicated the Business Starter package, which costs $60 per month, and is currently 6/1 but will migrate to 12/2 has no caps.

A little strange is the fact that very little (maybe 20-30% at most, probably much less) of the area this fairly tightly targeted ad packet covers is actually fios offered/available yet. (though this gives me hope they may be restarting the twice delayed/partially completed work in the area)

I pulled out the price list that Comcast sent a few weeks back for the new pricing as of Nov. 1st 2008.

Here's what it says: (sorry I have no scanner to post the actual thing)

Online service with comcast video or voice service
Economy (768/384): $24.95 (That's the same price as before. No change.)

Online service only
Economy (768/384): $40.95 (Previous price was $39.95 since 1/1/08)

Limited Basic Service (Video) locally (North, West, & Northwest Philadelphia) costs $14.90 (No change since last price list of 1/1/08)

*As a side note. I hadn't noticed this when I got the new price list, but the HSI only prices have increased for all tiers:
6/1 up from $57.95 to $59.95
16/2 up from $67.95 to $69.95
768/384 up from $39.95 to $40.95

*HSI + Video or CDV remain unchanged and the same as in the OP.

As for me, I'd probably do a bit of a crossgrade, from my current 8/2 service to 12/2 business. I'd get a bit of a download speed boost, uploads would be faster on PwoerBoost due to DOCSIS 2 rollout, I could keep my current modem, and no cap. Plus it's $59 if I'm reading correctly, with no TV service required.

I have not yet decided whether I will back off to 12/2 or move up to 22/5. Since it isn't here yet, I have time to think about it. In the meantime, if Verizon FiOS TV enters the mix, an enticing triple play bundle from either company may make the decision more complex. We do already have the option of FiOS internet service.

Since you didn't have a stay put then upgrade later option, I'm planning on staying put and waiting out the 16/2 upgrade and after I see how things go, weather it's rent or buy, I'll be upgrading to the 22/5 package.

Hope I'm able to get a Moto 6120 to replace my 5100 on the internet side. (I have the Triple Play and since they can't seem to get the ARRIS to work right speed wise, I use it for phone only and my original RR install 5100 for internet.)

20 bucks total is definitely worth it to go from 16/2 to 22/5.

Main reason to go with Blast! over 6/1 was the upload speed (not that the download speed wasn't nice too :p). But with now both non D3 tiers having the same upload speed, 12mbps will be enough on the download side.

If I were to upgrade later on because my needs change I would go with 22/5. 22/5 for $99.99 business class account.
Seeing polls can't be modified lets just say that anyone who falls into this category will select the 22/5 residential option and should there be any other business class customers they can select the speed tier closest to theirs.
