Re: Wiskey Tango Foxtrot II

Thats why I decided to come home today/this afternoon instead of tomorrow. Driving on I57 back to the 'burbs tomorrow would be a nightmare...

Boss just told me I can work whatever schedule I want tomorrow. I normally work 3:30 to midnight. I probably will still work my normal schedule so I don't have to deal with the loonies on the road during any of the rush times.

Whew... I am glad I made it back when I did. I wasnt planning on returning till tomorrow (Thursday) but judging by the weather, home sweet home! Guess I'll be shoveling tomorrow too!

Edit: Not sure when it was posted, but the watch is now a winter storm warning starting at 3PM tomorrow. Looks like more snow north of I88...again, glad I am back and not in champaign!

Looking like I'll stay home tomorrow. With close to a foot there is no need being out in that at midnight.

Hopefully my Godfather set arrived today and I can watch it.

I need to stock up on my Oatmeal Souts, Porters and other cold weather beers. Nothing like sitting inside on a cold winter night, the driveway shoveled with a great dark brew! mmm

The update shows this bad boy walking onto our doorsteps a bit later in the evening which is good cause hopefully it will miss all the rush hour traffic. A direct hit like we are supposed to get when it was originally forcasted would be a nightmare. Also the location for freezing rain is getting narrowed to the 88/80 corridor but still significant snow/freezing rain accumulations all over, worst amounts to the north.

1024 AM CST THU DEC 18 2008 /1124 AM EST THU DEC 18 2008/

THIS HAZARDOUS WEATHER OUTLOOK IS FOR PORTIONS OF NORTH CENTRAL
ILLINOIS...NORTHEAST ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA.

.DAY ONE...TODAY AND TONIGHT.

A WINTER STORM WILL AFFECT NORTHERN ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA
BEGINNING THIS EVENING AND CONTINUING THROUGH FRIDAY MORNING.
THIS STORM WILL BRING A VARIETY OF WINTER WEATHER TO NORTHERN
ILLINOIS AND NORTHWEST INDIANA RANGING FROM HEAVY SNOW
ACCUMULATIONS OF AROUND A FOOT ACROSS FAR NORTHERN ILLINOIS TO
SIGNIFICANT ICE ACCUMULATIONS BETWEEN A HALF INCH AND ONE INCH
SOUTH OF INTERSTATE 80. LOCATIONS IN BETWEEN WILL EXPERIENCE A
COMBINATION OF ICE AND SNOW ACCUMULATIONS.

IN ADDITION...AN ISOLATED THUNDERSTORM IS POSSIBLE TONIGHT.

THERE IS AN INCREASED RISK OF ICE JAMS ACROSS AREA RIVERS.
FLOODING DUE TO ICE JAMES HAS ALREADY BEEN REPORTED ON PORTIONS
OF THE ROCK AND LOWER FOX RIVERS.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...FRIDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY.

PRECIPITATION WILL TAPER OFF TO LIGHT SNOW AND FLURRIES BY FRIDAY
AFTERNOON. MUCH OF THE ACCUMULATING SNOW SHOULD END DURING THE
LATE MORNING HOURS.

ANOTHER ROUND OF WINTER WEATHER IS SETTING UP FOR SUNDAY AND INTO
EARLY NEXT WEEK. THIS SYSTEM IS LOOKING TO TAKE A MORE SOUTHERLY
TRACK THROUGH THE OHIO VALLEY...SO THE ASSOCIATED PRECIPITATION
WILL LIKELY BE SNOW RATHER THAN ANY MORE ICE OR SLEET.

THE RISK OF ICE JAMS WILL CONTINUE THROUGH THE PERIOD.

They keep moving it back, but now it's definitely going to screw up the morning rush. I hope work is closed tomorrow.

And the winter storm warning is effective...........now.

They are a bit more specific in their latest warning. Talking about 1-2 inches/hour at time with thunder snow. Just talked with a friend down in Champaign and he said it was starting to freezing rain there.

Gentlemen...start you snow blowers Shovels!!
