rv65 : I just recently purchased a Sony KDL-55V5100 bundle offer from Best Buy. Getting them to honor the price wasn't easy but it's coming on Sunday. I'll hook it up to the 3270 HD-DVR and it will sure look great. I think I'll have to start recording things in HD. I have to find a Stand or mount for it. It will replace a 20" TV and we'll lose the entertainment system so we'll gain viewing distance. The bundle included a PS3, Little Big Planet and The Ugly Truth BD. I had to go in today to get the pricing just right as we purchased it yesterday. The PS3 will be our first BD player. Eventually I would like to get the other room hooked up to a BD player. Don't worry I have all the necessary cabling for it :).
--
SA 8300HDC ODN v3.1.3_2
2x SMT-H3260 ODN v3.1.3_2
SMT-H3270 ODN v3.1.3_2

Founder of the DSLR Jari-Matti Latvala Fan club and the DSLR Mikko Hirvonen fan club!

rv65 : Like I said they'll offer analog customers 1 free HD box for a year to help compensate for the lost analogs. TWC will not move them to a higher priced digital tier. The analogs going to digital besides Hallmark will remain in the expanded basic tier but will require digital equipment to view them. After the 1 year period is up you have to pay for the box. TWC San Diego WILL NOT lower your bill just because you have less analogs. That would be a smart thing but thats not how they do business. The letter didn't mention that but I think that's a plausible offer.

Edit: The free box offer is listed in the letter and you should get on with this offer soon as it will expire on 1.31.10.

--
SA 8300HDC ODN v3.1.3_2
2x SMT-H3260 ODN v3.1.3_2
SMT-H3270 ODN v3.1.3_2

If you don't like your service then don't subscribe to it.
Viva WRC!!!
rv65 : Well I got a letter from TWC today saying that 6 analogs are going to digital but remain on the tier. Hallmark is going to the variety tier on CH. 279. On 12.9.09 you'll need a box to view ShopNBC, Tru TV, ABC Family, CMT, C-Span 2, and the Travel Channel. If you have a box, Cable Card, or Tuning Adapter you should have no difference in seeing these channels. XHAS (Telemundo) is going to the Limited basic tier on CH. 20 you don't need expanded basic to view that channel. Originally it was going to the digital intro tier but those plans were shelved.

C-Span 2 is moving to CH 121
ShopNBC is moving to CH. 22
TruTV is staying on CH. 39
ABC Family will remain on CH. 35
CMT is moving to CH. 66
Travel Channel is moving to CH. 69

Comedy Central move to CH. 60
Golf Channel to move to CH. 58
BET to move to CH. 70
C-span to move to CH. 21
Golf Channel HD will move to CH. 758
Telemundo (XHAS) will move to CH. 20

This affects both North County and San Diego.
rv65 : A bunch of HD channels are going to be added on 12/8. TWC will also eliminate 6 analog channels in San Diego. Rates won't go down due to having less channels. TWC is giving a free box away for 1 year. TWC won't make these clearQAM but they only hand out HD boxes so you get the added bonus of getting them in HD. A TWC employee wont say which analogs are being eliminated but I think they'll be not as major channels. Plus Digital costs the same as analog. It gets more expensive when you get more boxes though.

MSNBC HD
NBA TV HD
ESPN U HD
AMC HD
QVC HD and 5 more HD. Now we finally get NBA TV HD.
rv65 : No not right now. The OpenTV deal wasn't economical. OpenTV was going to develop a middleware that would allow Motorola boxes to run Navigator. Navigator what the SA Boxes run. It does have no commercials in the guide :). They could implement SDV within a month. It also mentions that they could do that. Comcast has converted some Moto areas to SA but TWC could do it. It's just a matter of spending money. ex Adelphia got more HD channels than the San Diego area but we caught up and then some.

Mind you that TWC San Diego doesn't even mention iGuide on their site. It's sent via Fiber so it's covered under the terrestrial loophole. Also TWC San Diego that's not the ex Adelphia areas use Cisco so they use 725 as the HD VOD channel. The ex adelphia lineup is the same except no 725. CH. 1 is the VOD channel. TWC also uses navigator. 8 to 13 more HD channels are going to be added. 1 is a local indie station aka KUSI. CH. 13 is our MNTV down the way in Tecate, Mexico. Entravision and Televisora Alco don't have any future plans to add a digital signal but they probably should. Maybe Entravision is using it so they don't have to spend the money to transition to digital. Also XETV is also Mexican licensed but carries no Spanish programming. So San Diego relies on a few Mexican stations to carry the locals. Hope this helps.

rv65 : The line up is probably very predictable. I'm sure I could easily guess the lineup. The channel assignments may vary. Most of the stuff is probably similar to what SoCal gets but maybe a little bit different. Food HD, HGTV HD, and KUSI HD are the only confirmed.

[TWC] New HD channels for San Diego

rv65 : Basically I have posted about San Diego in the SoCal Thread but San Diego is it's own market. This thread is about new HD channels in San Diego. That includes the ex Adelphia North County area. In non Ex adelphia areas up to 15 new HD channels but it may be like 10 of them. Some of them include Food Network HD, KUSI HD, and HGTV HD. San Diego is a unified cisco network except for the Ex Adelphia which is moto.
