That sucks, why is it exactly that the NYC area has to pay more for these sports channels while everyone else gets them in the Extreme HD package?
Why is that NY/NNJ get the Extreme HD package for the price of the Essentials package? That doesn't suck, now does it?

I called customer service today and they had no clue nhl network was coming. The nhl site said the next few days I just hope Verizon don't put it off

Any clue as to what channels it will be sd&hd
Let me just quote one of the comments Mr. Rabe left to his own blog:

"If you live within the NY Metro area, the NHL Network will be part of the sports package.

Eric"

I live in NJ and I have Extreme HD. Is the NHL Network included or do I need to pay more?

"NHL Network will launch soon and be rolled out to FiOS TV subscribers on a market-by-market basis. It will be part of the FiOS TV Extreme HD package (SD channel 87/HD channel 587). If you live within the NY Metro area, the NHL Network will be part of the sports package.

Eric"

How do you know it will be the 17th and is there a date for Pittsburgh Pa?
Because some of the regulars of this forum get told about some of this stuff.

If I had to bet..

I'd say you'll need at least the Extreme HD package to get the NHL Network.

Just my hunch.

Yes, it will be in SD and HD..

At least here in the Philly area - it will be added on 11/17

IceManny-
NBA TV will be coming soon as well - it's not tied to a League Pass deal. It should arrive same time as NHL Network.
Ok, Great! we have a maybe date, anyone know if NHL network will be like NFL network or do we have to pay extra????

Per Eric Rabe at the Policy Blog, NHL Network should be on soon and from his comments, looks like the HD version will be on when it launches

Spoke to a csr today and she said that NBA LP will NOT be available until the end of this year. Something about logistics and the channels still needing to be sorted out blah blah blah. She also said it would be offered at the half-price rate (the end of the year is typically the time that NBA LP is slashed to half-price).

Sad news that us basketball fans (who I find don't make enough of a stink on here) won't be able to enjoy League Pass as the season starts.

But also a bit of good news to know that we ARE getting it eventually.
