| reply to Embarq_Joey Embarq mailed me a notice for me to sign up for DSL. There was a date set for 31 March "08 to install. When that date arrived, nothing happened. No one at Embarq called to say that the installation would not happen. I had to call them. I was told that there had been a mistake and that DSL was not available to my area. Next, I get a call that I should call them and set up an appointment to install. That was on the 15th of Nov. "08. I called and they set me p with a date of 12 Dec. "08. When no one showed up I called Embarq again and asked what was the reason no one showed up. I was told again that DSL is not available to my area. In my opinion Embarq is good at offering services and reneging. This is a sorry way to treat customers. And I guarantee that if I am behind on payment, by just one day, they will be after me immediately. All the bad publicity I read on the internet about Embarq is well deserved. |

| reply to MAMA Was scheduled for Embarq Extended reach service install yesterday 12-17-08 between the hours of 10am and 2pm. At 2:10 when no one arrived I called the number from the extended reach flyer. The response, "we're sorry no one called to cancel the appointment. Some parts are on back order but we hope to have them next week. Someone will call to confirm when the parts arrive and we can connect service". I was able to wrangle a $29.95 credit on my bill (at least that's what they told me, I'll have to check the bill this month to make sure) since I took a vacation day to wait at home for installation. This is SO frustrating. Earlier in the year I had received notification that the BFRR I had submitted was being acted on and DSL would be available in my area..... later, I find out that Embarq only upgraded a portion of the area and that I would need to get more neighbors from my area to fill out BFRR's and that since Embarq has met it's statutory requirements in PA DSL service won't be available for at least 2 years even if I get the required number of neighbors to submitt BFRR's too. The best part is neighbors less than a mile in either direction of my house have DSL. I'm aware of the distance limitations involved in providing service but why upgrade 3/4 of the customers in my area and leave the rest of us with no advanced services. |

| reply to Embarq_Joey I have recently run the same gambit as a few of the posters. Got the flyer, signed up for the ER DSL, and waited the 2 months for my appt. I had my poor mother stay the "day" after i was assured that Embarq does not schedule in blocks and my 10am appt. would be just that. When I found that they were late, i phoned the listed number and was told that they were running a little late and asked my mom to stay a little longer since I was working. 3 hours later I phoned again to find that the young lady i spoke to that morning, they didn't know if she was there? ever but were sorry if this inconvenienced me. What crap is this? They then gave me a customer status line that put me on hold for 25 minutes. I was then told that the high speed coils were not installed as of yet in my area and noone knows when they will be or why i was not phoned. 2 of my neighbors reported similar difficulties that week and one was told that it would be available in a month. Can't say im holding my breath on this one. Since when is it OK to lie to customers and not phone them to cancel an appointment? Lets just say that options are limited in my area but when given the chance, the bad PR of Embarq will come to my recollection. If the business isn't good enough to keep upgrades coming on time then please keep the advertising budget for the obvious needs of your existing customers. |

| reply to Embarq_Joey Got my Extended Reach DSL installed yesterday. Quite the surprise, as my appt. was for Jan 27! Woke up and found a box on my front door. Note attached said DSL working at my house, and the box contained the modem. I hooked it into my router, and was up and running within seconds. A bit slow for a couple of hours, but it's flying today. |

| reply to Embarq_Joey Well, I vented when things didn't go my way. Now the follow up. I had an Embarq field tech at my home until 7pm checking the line a few days before the new year, very, very commendable service. The line wasn't picking up the ADSL signal so he told me he would have to check the main office in the morning. By 10am the next day that field tech had a DSL modem in my hand and my service was complete. It's not as fast as the true DSL I had before but it's hands down better than the Satellite service on cost and performance we had before. The service has been running fine for almost two weeks now, no interruptions or needing to restart the modem like I've read on a few other posts. |

| reply to Embarq_Joey I am displeased with Embarq's customer service over the fact that my neighbors up the road are going to be getting the Extended Reach DSL around Feb. 27th, while we have to wait until March 26th. We are all within a mile of each other, and I see no reason why we can't get the service within a reasonable time length of late February. Another reason of why I am displeased with Embarq service is why they would initially tell us that we were going to have the service installed on Feb. 16th, and then get a phone call delaying it for a month, even though we signed up for the service around late December. I do believe that we will end up with the service, but waiting an extra month added on to two months of notification is a little much in my opinion. I'm sorry if it just seems as if I am whining, because I feel that I am, but I think that some other people feel the same way as I do. |

| Technodial,
Sorry to hear about the issues with your ER DSL install. I'm sure you've read about the delays we've faced from the equipment vendor. If you IM me your number I can investigate and hopefully make sure it's not delayed again.
Thx,

| reply to Embarq_Joey I had an appointment for today, February 19th from 9am -> 11am. Called my brother, who I had asked to stay home, at 2pm to see if they had been out yet. No truck roll, nothing other than some odd static and clicking on the line (but that seems to be typical lately). Customer service will be recieving a nastygram tomorrow morning, and if that doesn't work, I'll send Joey a PM with the details. All in all, sounds like someone's aligator mouth overloading their hummingbird deriere. BTW our signup deadline in Missouri was Jan 10, I recieved the letter Jan 4 or Jan 5. Almost too late. |

| reply to Embarq_Joey As it turns out, there was just a slight records error - we had the DSL installed on Feb. 27th as was everyone else in out area. I'm sorry about my previous post - I was just venting to some degree. I am now very pleased with our Extended Reach Service - we end up getting about 480 Kbps and 50 - 60 KB/sec download speeds. |

| reply to rroberts3 As an update, as of today Embarq has still not installed ERDSL. I called Feb 23, talked to a lady who said they were waiting on a shipment of equipment that didn't arrive on time. Almost a month later, I wonder, did Embarq even ORDER the equipment? Or was it just something she said to make me feel better at the time?
I'll keep waiting, but at this point, I could almost care less. |

| reply to Embarq_Joey Just got off the phone checking for Extended Reach in my area and the customer rep. told me that they got slammed in the areas that they offered it, that they are not rolling out any other areas right now. Do you think they are waiting for the Centurytel deal to be finished before rolling out more Extended Reach? |
