I could go on and on but in my opinion when Deliberant switch to Wiligear things turned to crap
This is what happens when functionality is no longer your primary concern. Cutting corners for higher profit means more truck rolls for us and with the price of fuel I can no longer take the risk. I will stick with my "tried and true" 8186 Realtek's that continue to run flawlessly for me.

In my opinion Wili has never gotten it together with their firmware. I will take Mikrotik and Realtek over Wili any day.

Get Wireless,
What Realtek units are you using? And where are you getting them?

Thats funny because I just sold a customer a slew of Ligo 5GHz CPE's and an AP for a job. The system ran flawless for a week, in a high noise, high fresnel interference area. The power system was questionable as well.

Zero problems.

I find it odd as well. I have been replacing those cheap $99 8186-15dbi units with the new DLB wiligear units because I have had nothing but problems with the 8186 units since I got suckered into them. I can now sleep better at night and don't get ANY calls after the replacement.

Here's another question. What does it matter that the interface is slow? How often are you accessing the interfaces? I run a network that consists primarily of Canopy, with some DLB's mixed in. I never access the GUI's unless I have to, and even then I could care less how fast it responds.

Thats my take on the situation though.

That's interesting because those are the units I install today and I have zero issues. In fact they discontinued the $99.00 promotional kit and I know buy the assembled units. How many do you have and do you want to sell them? Send me a PM.

Hmmmmm............ I also find this interesting?. As a user who has Highgain, DLB, OSBridge AND Wilibox AP's, CPE's and PtP units all running at once (Just 1 or 2 of them gang, LOL! ), I can honestly say that while every brand has a minor issue here and there, they all work well for me.

While I will admit the Wilibox interface is clunky and slow, there is an easy way around all of that. Just use expert mode. I have been messing with radios for a day or two, and it is an honest statement when I say that every radio out there has one stupid little quirk here and there. Whether the unit is an 8186 from DLB or Highgain, it is still a Realtek unit. When it comes to the 8186 units being stupid, I have had radios from both CO's do something stupid once and awhile and if you deploy enough of them, sooner or later you will get a unit that somehow slips through quality control and makes you want to take a hammer to it. It is just the nature of the business.

To paint the picture that every Highgain or DLB radio is junk is wrong, really wrong. Take a look at my Raylink network for instance. I was having lunch one time with Marlon Schaffer on Boston, and when I told him my primary network was Raylink for all of my PtmP applications, he almost fell off of his chair laughing, as he said Raylink gear is junk. I laughed with him and explained how I had almost zero problems with these units once I learned how to use them and understood what they could and couldn't do.

Some would say that I am very biased when it comes to certain CO's and their radios. Well......They are correct, I AM. I use these radios because they work FOR ME. With all due respect, it doesn't matter that much to me if you can get the same radio to work for you?. I go to sleep without any problems. If you are having issues with a radio that I like, I will try and help but............

My experience with the earlier DLB gear was great and I was a big Deliberant fan. But lately I have tried the new Wiligear WBD-111 units had about 20 of them installed and started having problems with a few of them locking up. I got a software patch from Wiligear that helped a bit but still had lockup issues. These units are getting a few months old and are getting worse. I tried tech support but they were no help. I’m now pulling them about one or two a week and changing them to Mikrotik. I started using their client units WBD-500 and I have had a list of little issues with them that are still not resolved. I tried tech support and they are just pointing fingers. That can only go on so long before you loose confidence in a product and a company. I don’t have time to test prototype software and hardware for them and that’s what it feels like I’m doing.

The speed matters when you have to program enough of them!!

I have 7 of the HighGain units and only have 2 left out in the field as the others would simply associate and disassociate as noted in my past threads. I first replaced units with the NS2 and it was fantastic. I ran out of them and had to find another unit. When DLB went to using wili parts instead of Realtek I tried that. They work great in places the realtek hg 8186 would not. I cannot say that all Realtek is bad for me as I have many 2112's in the field that work great. I can say I have had nothing but trouble from the 8186-15dBi units as I have nearly replaced all of them. I used their enclosures and put mikrotik boards in the ones I brought in and discarded the highgain cards because they were useless to me. I will also agree that not everyone is going to have the same problems I have and if something is working for me, it might not work for you. I have LigoWave based AP's and love them. Now that I have a LigoWave CPE matched to my LigoWave AP I am hoping that I have found a usable pair that does not need to be replaced within 2-3 months.

That sounds like the problem here especially if they were disassociating. That's a simple setup error. It's a shame you tossed perfectly good radios, I would have taken off your hands.

Wow.. "a simple setup error".. well it's a simple error that Rich could not even give advice to fix, neither could anyone here. I must ask where you were when I posted my original problems?.. on second thought let's just stop the insulting of people's intelligence by such comments.

It was you that had the issue setting up the radios, that makes us and the manufacturer the problem? That's what I call a self inflicted insult.

You're not listening. The radios were setup as advised by Rich himself, and they showed the symptoms as documented in this -> thread "http://www.dslreports.com/forum/r20225787-Equipment-Unknown-Cause-for-Issues"

I think it's great that HG radios work for most people, however, in my network, in my area, THEY DID NOT WORK 71% of the time. (5 out of 7 radios showed the SAME symptoms), when other radios, of the same chipset, performed properly such as the DLB2112 as well as other radios (Ubiquiti NS2 and the new Ligo/DLB CPE)

Interesting post by yourself considering you just said the DLB2112 performed properly.

I have a client on the edge of town and I had them setup with a DLB2112. It was having issues and locking up once a day or sometimes multiple times a day.

I replaced it yesterday with a HGA8168 with 15dBi

THANK YOU TIM! The units have now stabilized. I will get after that interference tomorrow and hopefully I'll sleep easy tonight.

Like I said, a setup error.

It's nice when quotes are made out of context. The quick fix didn't last long and I have since been replacing the realtek (some 8186 and some 2112) units in my network.

This has all gotten out of hand, plain and simple, the 8186 units did not work in my network. In the places that the 8186 did not work initially I tried a DLB2112 when I got some in and it worked well. In the places that the 2112 would not work, neither did the 8186. I replaced those with UBNT, Mikrotik, or LigoWave units.

I have had much better luck with ubiquiti and wiligear based products. I have nothing against Rich but when I did contact him he was not very helpful in resolving my problems with his radios. I quit buying them and found something else that worked.

I will not compare this to that, dont want to get flamed. the question was simple, and my answer is simple. I have multiple Deliberant radios in service, since i have put them up, ZERO problems. I had ONE issue with a radio that would sync with the tower but not pass traffic, this was PPPOe and it would get an IP, so factory default the radio and programmed it again and it worked.
Yes i have deliberant radios in service, and not any major problems.

gsgitu2,
What firmware are you running on them? What kind of AP are they connecting to? One problem I have is the units will only connect at 1mb, have you seen anything like that? What settings do you use on them, like router or bridge? Do you change the ACK timing at all?

I would like to get these units to work but I just don’t have time to do this much trouble shooting and the help I get from tech support has not been much. So that’s why all the questions.

Is the AP a Ligowave Atheros based unit by chance?
Sounds like the AP only likes to play with Atheros based units which is more of a firmware issue at that end, not the client end. In that case I would put up a realtek based AP and retest both the Delib and High-gain units and I will bet they work fine.

My AP's are all Realtek or Mikrotik and they don't mind what we use for client radios.
