| Verizon made good on free line speed upgrade!
I still wonder if there is going to be a catch somewhere down the road, but I got a postcard from Verizon a couple of weeks ago stating they were going to upgrade my 768k service to 1.5mb service at no charge. Well the upgrade went through last night. I was surprised that I managed the full 1792k/448k connection because I am so far from the CO. My line attenuation is usually between 60 and 63, but crossing fingers, the connection seems to be holding. My downstream noise margin actually dipped to 2.5 at one point this morning but didn't drop the connection. Now the noise margin seems to be holding in the low teens, so I'll just keep an eye on that... Thanks Verizon. |

| reply to bfollett I just noticed my free upgrade went through as well. We are 2 miles from the CO but the wire plant is fairly new (15 years).
One down side, I suspect this means FIOS is not in the near future for me. We have underground utilities and they are taking their time installing in these types of developments. |
