80s

When I was a teenager in the 80s MTV was the pinnacle of coolness--Yo MTV rap, Headbanger's ball, etc. Now, all MTV shows are just middle and upper class young adults fighting with each other and complaining.

I guess they had to put the music somewhere or be forced to change their name to the crybaby channel or something.

Not so much really just replace the word Music with Media. Either way you end up with MTV and IMO that's what they're doing.

Didn't help that most popular music went in the crapper in the late 90's/early 00's, what with Brittney Spears, the Backstreet Boys, and all of those other ones I've managed to purge from memory with a mixture of pot and alcohol. Anything that wasn't too offensive for television sucked. The decline was inevitable.

VH1 and VH1 classics.. Then there is always Youtube. When MTV started dumping music for the "x-generation" soaps, well, to be honest, when they started playing mostly hippity hop and rap, I deleted that channel from my line up (Yo.. mtv, you listening). The turned their backs on a generation who made them what they are so, I don't watch'em my kids don't watch'em. Thank god to youtube.. Oh, and VH1C
