using openDNS could never cause your connection to "drop", however it's possible that if for whatever reason the DNS stopped working, you would not be able to connect by name.

Next time your connection is "dropped", see if you can connect to a site by IP instead of name. For example, try »/ instead of »dslreports.com

if you can connect by IP but not by name, then you have a DNS issues. if you cannot connect via name OR IP, then it's not a DNS issue.
