nklb posted : I've attached the utility I used to put my cam in and out of debug mode.

Unfortunately the program requires Windows (I had to dig up an old laptop just to run it!)

The password to install it is "penta-club.ru" (which is the russian site where the file was obtained from)

The debug menu adds some unctions to the k10d camera's menus. Use google to find exactly what you can tweak here. In general, you should likely only be concerned with the "AF Test" option.

Of note, if you go hunting for this utility elsewhere, you are more likely to stumble on the Russian language version. The version posted here is fully translated into English.

Disclaimer: I provide no warranty as to the merchantability or fitness of this program for any purpose. I can honestly say that it worked for me, but your results may be different. This program was put together by people unknown to me, and while I did not detect any virus or malware in it, it still should be treated as unknown. According to reports I have read, this utility also works with the k100d Super camera, but only to put the cam IN debug mode, not take it out. For that, there is a manual key combination you can press. I do not have that info, as I only needed this for my k10d, which the program was claimed to work with by those I obtained it from. So again, I am NOT responsible for any damage running this program may cause, use it entirely at your own risk. RUNNING THIS PROGRAM MAY VOID YOUR WARRANTY.
--
for all your Linux questions
<TABLE WIDTH=95% align=center border=0 CELLPADDING=4">

setup_gx10_d···.exe.zip 383,934 bytes

Jodokast96 posted : The only downside to that is that you have to be using an early firmware to access it. Also, that value may not hold true for all lenses. That's why the K20D allows you to have seperate settings for up to 20 or 30 different lenses. The good news is that if that one setting does work for all of your lenses, you can update the firmware without losing the setting. You just won't be able to access the menu anymore, at least not without finding the "rollback" firmware that tricks the camera into loading an earlier one.

k10d backfocus

nklb posted : Wow, so I had been annoyed with the autofocus on my k10d ever since I got it. I was ready to blame the type of camera as just not being as fun to use as my Canon Rebel XTi or my pentax k100d. Well, turns out it actually was something wrong with the camera!

I was able to get into a "secret" debug menu on the camera and adjust the focus slider, so now all of my focusing is spot on! It makes the camera so much easier to use, and now it's no longer just my macros (which I manually focused for) that come out sharp!

Anyone who has a k10d with focus issues, I highly recommend researching how to change the focus settings. It's WELL worth it. Using a focus test chart, my focus was WAY off, over 100um on the slider to fix.
--
for all your Linux questions
