I disagree that the selection is pretty good the quality is fine the content is lacking.
To each his own I guess, but there are a lot of movies I haven't seen and want to see. Now the HD content *IS* abysmal. I think there was like 1 movie I had even heard of.

The SD content selection is pretty good and looks as good as an SD DVD when the 360 upscales it.

I've been running Netflix on the 360 over an AT&T Pro DSL package and I can tell you it is not adequate bandwidth for a quality picture while streaming. My connection has a max download of 3Mbps. Looks like it's time to upgrade the ISP speeds.

Streaming HD on a 10Mbps works flawlessly. Just finished watching about 3 episodes of The Office in HD on NXE. Streams in at 1080p according to my TV. Looks really good too... Not quite Blu-Ray quality, but still quite sharp for an internet stream. I'm very impressed.
the 1080p is the connection between your XBOX 360 and your TV, not necessarially the resolution of what is being shown through Nextflix.
I am well aware, but there are no indicators saying whether it is interlaced or progressive streams. According to my router logs, the interface that my xbox connects to pulled in 5.9GB for 5 episodes of The Office in HD.

They called the HD quality of a Heroes episode "stunning" ...

Video quality was excellent on our end, with SD content looking terrifically watchable. A small perk -- but huge deal as far as we're concerned -- is the inclusion of a limited amount of HD content. We previewed Heroes in HD, and the quality was stunning. Right now there's only about 300 titles on offer, but we think after folks get a taste of this, they'll be begging for some expansion.

If the reports of the movie sizes at 4-6GB are correct, then the they'll stream at 4-8Mbps which is great quality for WMV9 VC-1 HD content. I do a LOT of video conversion to WMV9 VC-1 at those bitrates and it's gorgeous.

I read that too, but it doesn't mean that the Roku unit will look better.
it doesn't mean it won't, or that the XBox360 will be better either.

Will it be downloadable movies or streaming? Most connections will crap out with streaming.

I do know one thing; the Roku will feature higher video quality using the same bandwidth, or the same video quality at a lower bandwidth, since it'll be using better, more up-to-date, and more efficient codecs than the 360....that said, the 360 will give me a ball-park idea.
Nobody knows for sure yet, thats kind of a wild guess. Seeing as the update could have the same if not better codecs and codec support than the Roku, the 360 could be better. Until the update is released and someone does a side-by-side comparison, it's only a guess.
sure, but I also listen to what has been said, a well: »www.hackingnetflix.com/2008/11/r···-to.html

the Roku is Netflix's flagship device that they push (though they themselves did not make it), because of the price and availability; don't be surprised if it gets more special treatment.

I don't understand why companys put caps on a HOME connection. What do they expect if people want to use these services that Microsoft and Sony provide. Even on the newer HD DVR boxes from a tv provider they have movies on demand that you download to your box and view it on the tv. Verizon Fios needs to become available for all these people who are restricted to a dumb cap so they can kick Comcast in the ass.

On the PS3 store, I saw about an hour and a half movie listed at 2.5GB in SD and 8.5GB in HD. My ISP caps me at about 8GB per day. Downloading a lot of HD movies could be a problem for anyone with an Internet cap.
