You all know that this phone will launch on AT&T with tri-band HSPA and Wifi after Verizon's exclusive is up plus a few months. RIM does this with all their phones. |

| That will be nice. One thing that I noticed reading through the threads is the personal/business user dichotomy expressed above, e.g. "real business users don't watch movies on their PDA." My wife is on the road over 40 weeks a year and all around the world. When I suggested buying her an iPOD Touch, she said: "not another piece of electronics with another charger, etc." There is just so much room in a carry-on bag and only so many cables you want to cope with. The allure of the iPhone is that it combines your iPOD, Blackberrish device, and phone into one device. I won't push the camera part. Then there was the portable DVD player, etc.
Apple's brilliance was creating a working all in one device that does a pretty good job at all of the above. It is not a laptop subsitute, but it is a good travel buddy. Corporate travel involves sitting bored out of your mind in airport lounges, cookie cutter hotels, etc. Their need for an infotainment device is equal to that of a "personal user." |

Then you & her should LOVE the STORM. It does movies and music, even syncs to iTunes and plays .aac files (normally exclusive to the iPhone and Apple products). I was shocked by this ...go look at the specs. It is basically an iPhone but with the power and security of a Blackberry..... Yes, no WIFI, but with 3G speeds and VZ network, I don't care about WIFI. |

Actually Apple's brilliance was not in creating a device that does all of that well. In fact there are many other devices that have brought these features together long before even the first Iphone was released. In comparison, Apple did not do a very good job of it at all but the focused on two critically important aspect to american consumers.
#1 they made it EASY to use. not versatile, or powerful, but EASY above all else.
#2 they marketed the hell out of it and we all know if it is on a commercial on TV then we MUST have it.
For what it is worth, according to what I have been reading, Apple Iphone sales in the USA actually surpassed RIM in the 3rd quarter. But then again those numbers could be padded as it seems just about everyone with an Iphone has had it replaced at least once. (yes i know thats an exaggeration, I was just trying to make a point that I do not think Apple's figures are very trustworthy.)
