Speakeasy Speed Test Test your internet connection speed! Last Result: Download Speed: 33440 kbps (4180 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 7397 kbps (924.6 KB/sec transfer rate) Peek was 35 mbps own,8.2 mbps up.
Haven't been able to verify upload,(with large file). But these speeds are nuts. Just got a new Ambit modem. the dpx-2100 gave it up,along with a splitter.

I don't bother testing my speeds at the PCPITSOP site because their servers are located at the West & East coasts and South, there isn't any for the midwest to try |

1 edit | reply to Netbum on speed.io I can get 32-35mbps/7mbps with a 9-15ms ping. I have no idea where their servers are, or how accurate it is. I hope my speed and ping increase if/when they run me a new underground line. (my signals are pretty bad, +10db down/+55.7db up, too high) |

| reply to Netbum Hi,
Run the 100 MB download test on www.testmy.net it will give you a better overall speed result....
Powerboost increases speed test results so you need to use a very large file test that will bleed off the powerboost impacts....

Uhm, not quite!
To really see how fast your connection is, you should start a few LARGE downloads and use a meter or add up all the indicated speeds after 100MB or so.
Something like FlashGet and downloading a few dl.tv videos will light up your connection... see pic! -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

| reply to Netbum I always wondered why TestMy speed test is ALWAYS slow yet in the Verizon Fios forum people there max out their speeds..Verizon must have a better network ..because half the tests on Comcast turn out to be crap for speeds unless its Speakeasy or the Comcast speed test. |

| Better network? Possibly but the crap tests from Speedtest.net could be merely peering issues with other carriers - or just Speedtest.net itself. I think it's them.
Some people on Comcast post test results with really low pings and decent speed results - others(like me) get crap tests from them.
I will state this once again: *NO* speed test is to be trusted, period!
To really see what your connection can do, start a few LARGE downloads from a known fast server and see what the line will do.
I recommend using FlashGet and starting 4-6 video downloads from dl.tv(see pic).
This will usually max out your connection - on any ISP. -- Think outside the Fox... Opera |

| reply to ztmike For speed tests, I've noticed that many, especially Speedtest.net, seem to have trouble accurately reporting cable HSI speeds. This is as true for Charter, as for Comcast (they currently have a Speedtest.net thread in their forum, as well).
They seem to do better with DSL level speeds (under 7 mb/s). But even then, the Speedtest.net servers are off, when compared with the native ATTIS java based speed tests. NDT speed tests seem to do better; such as this one:
