Wow. Verizon really lied. It's the end of the month and still no sign of the upgrade.

I called Verizon a few weeks ago and asked for that upgrade. They checked my account and said that i am qualified. The rep asked me would you like me to take care of it right now I said yes of cause In three hours i had that upgrade. I called at 10am at 1pm I was upgraded. I was upgraded from 768/128 to 1000/384. The 1000 sometimes goes a little higher. They also send me a E Mail and told me the upgrade was completed

It stinks how you guys get the upgrade within hours. I have to wait an entire week here :P. Should be coming on Tuesday though.

It really does stink. My contract expired on the 28th. So I called on the 27 to renew my contact. I asked if it was the 1M rate, she said yes. I'm still seeing 768, even with modem resync.

I renewed my contract here as well, to keep from another price hike that occured because I left my contract non-renewed. That's probably causing the delay or it's just lots of orders/work in the CO. Who knows. Hopefully it comes soon. I'm anxious for that extra upload! The download will be useful as well, especially with HQ/HD video on YouTube now.

Verizon needs to keep up with the times. 1M is the bare minimum.

Imagine that. Bare minimum speeds on a bare minimum plan.

Didn't know you had to pay a premium to want faster speeds.

Hey guys, looks like Verizon turned on my higher speed overnight, about 3 hours ago is when my modem resynced! I guess it's time to try out this new speed. Thanks Verizon!

Here's a line quality test. That boost also shaved a bit of latency off of my line, about 6ms of time, even though I had FastPath before . Now I ping 1ms to my first hop, or 9 ms in command promt during a trace.

If you want premium faster speeds it will cost $29.99 a month that is for 3000/768. I am very happy with the 1000/384 upgrade. Like I said in my last review they upgraded me in three hours.

upgrade what upgrade????

I was on the phone with India for 3 hours the only upgrade they said i can have is 3m. She also stated there are no currently no free upgrades in speed in my prefix number (609) 265 from 768 to 1m. Granted I have not seen any post cards. The only thing verizon has sent is an offer join the triple freedom plan for 79.99 a month. What in find funny is that plan has listed a base speed of 1m.

Why call India, when you need to talk to billing?

Talk to billing. If at first they say there isn't any 1Mbps/384kbps package, tell them what the website says and have them recheck the system for the speed. I did this and after telling the billing representative that the 1Mbps speed was there, they looked around, and there it was. So she applied the new settings for me .Of course, I thanked them and now here I am with the speed.

By the way, the quickest way to get to a rep is to say "Agent" when it asks you what options you want to get to billing. It'll ask you again the same things, but press 0 or say Agent and you'll be sent right to a rep.

Congrats on the speed upgrade, finally! I see you are pulling in your full speed even after overhead. Not bad at all. Wish I was pulling in my full 7.1 megs, but it appears the higher your speed, the more you lose to overhead.

No signs of this free upgrade in eastern MA. Has anyone in Massachusetts received this? Is there a way we can break this down geographically to see who is getting upgraded? I'm starting to think that this upgrade is dependent upon where you live, or whether you have FIOS available. I do not have FIOS in my community, and as of today, December 2nd, no upgrade seems to be forthcoming. There is also no mention of this free upgrade on the Verizon web site or by Verizon email.

If you want the free upgrade you have to call Verizon they are not going to do it automatically. You will need to contact the billing/sales dept. directly at Verizon online at 1-800-567-6789. That dept. is open from 8am - 6pm (eastern time) Monday-Friday. Good luck

Well i called billing they said i am at the base speed if i want to upgrade to 3mb i can. I how ever stated i am only seeing 768.When the base speed on the web sights its 1m So billing sends me to the next agent. Then we do modem and pc re boot test. Line tests. They tell me everything is fine that speeds are not guaranteed. How ever they will be sending some out in 3 weeks to check my line. That's more or a less a collation of dates when verizon has some one free and i am off from work. I think they tried to keep this hush hush to old customers. Making us have to jump through hoops to get what new customer are getting. Heck i remember well bell atlantic upped my speed from 500 to 768 and i did not have to do any work like this. I have been a customer so long i still have that bell atlantic modem.

Wow! Verizon really is a nightmare to deal with.

I've tried getting the answer to the "Upgrade from 768kbps/128kbps to 1Mbps/386kbps" question for about a month now. I sent half a dozen emails of which my only response was from an automated responder that was totally irrelevant to the question. I also tried opening up a chat session, and they informed that they could not provide those answers, and I would have to call Verizon. OK, I give up and make the dreaded phone call to Customer Service.

After the usual 30 minute wait time, I finally get someone on the phone. I ask about the upgrade and am told that they are delayed in rolling it out, and they can give me no idea when it's going to happen. The rep said it should have already occurred, and they are clueless as to when it will be completed, but "any day now."

I then ask if there is anything I can do on my end to speed up the process. I'm told, that indeed they could process this immediately, but that I would have to sign a new contract for one year and the cost would be $24.95 a month, up from the $19.99 a month I pay now. Great. I then ask what other speed options they may offer since I renewed my service last spring. I was told that the only other option I have is to upgrade to 3Mbs at $39.99 a month. I explained that the price she just gave me is $10.00 more a month than the price I was quoted of $29.00 a month for 3Mbs last April. It's also $10.00 more a month than is currently (meaning today!) listed on their Verizon DSL web site.

Verizon's response to this: the web site currently has deals that we are not authorized to make over the phone. If you try to order it on-line, you get the following message, "We’re sorry, but if you already have Verizon High Speed Internet Service, we are unable to take your order on-line." Of course if you try and upgrade over the phone, they quote you higher prices. Apparently, there is no possible way to upgrade your service on-line. This is a joke for a company that is an Internet Service Provider.

It appears that the only upgrade option I have is to wait until my contract expires next spring, and then order the new service, and start a new contract, so that I can get the $29.00 pricing. Is this any way to treat existing customers and to grow your ISP service? With this business model I'm amazed Verizon survives in the ISP industry at all. It's almost as if they're trying to fool their existing customers into paying higher prices. I also find it almost unbelievable how difficult they make it to upgrade your service and make them more money.

I'm now wondering if the rep I spoke to knew what she was talking about. I may try calling again at some other time to see if another rep will tell me the same thing. I also think there are probably different plans based on the market your in. I get service in eastern Massachusetts. If anyone has been told something similar, I'd like to hear about it.

Nathanbrand I think you better call again a lot of them reps do not know what they are talking about. When I called them two weeks ago I waited no more than five min to connect with a rep. My contract expires next year in July 2009 I did not have to wait to renew to get this upgrade to 1000/386. I guess the rep was on the ball when i called.
