Armstrongs Network

Anyone else having issues throughout the day with bandwidth. When Clearview owned them, I recall them having a pair of T3's (Both over-loaded). Now at times, internet is soo slow in getting right around 1Mb/s. I pay for 6Mb/s service and feel like im getting jipped but theres no other alternative.

Im hoping FIOS will eventually get up here.

Do you have speed tests or anything to verify you're "getting right around 1Mb/s"? Also the packages go 768kbps, 5mbps, and 10mbps, there is no "6 Mb/s".

We currently have a T3 and two OC3 connections to the Internet. Yes they are running close to capacity. We are currently adding more fiber optic nodes in the cable plant which will put fewer users per node than Clearview had. By the first of the year we will be offering a 10Mbs downstream package on Docsis 3.0 and packages with 20-40Mbs downstream in the next year.
Please keep in mind that we are still running over Clearview's existing cable infrastructure which lacked maintenance. We have pretty much scrapped almost all thier equipment in the headend and redesigned with new - plus miles and miles of additional fiber optic cable feeding more nodes as mentioned above. The existing cable is getting checked and replaced/repaired as necessary, but it is a time consuming process with around 600 miles of it left to check.
We currently have been having some intermittent issues with one of the old Clearview nodes in Delta which should be resolved in the next few weeks when the new nodes come online in Delta.
Sorry for any service issues but I assure you that we are working towards a better system in the long run. Please try to be patient with us in the meantime. I do however recommend that you setup a service call with us so we can come out and make sure that there are no outstanding issues between the tap on our feeder lines into your house up to and including your modem.

I noticed that we just got switched over to zoom this monday or tuesday had to reboot my modem and noticed I got a new ip and was like woah maybe finally.... did a speed test and I'm on Zoom 500 now!

Sweet, can't wait for the DOCSIS 3.0.

I am in Jarrettsville on Midsummer Lane.

All I can say is thanks for bringing a real cable company to the area, I got my HD channels a few weeks ago and now my first broadband upgrade in a couple of years

dodgetech, thanks for the reply. I actually registered so I could reply to you. Seems like everything is running pretty smooth from a bandwidth perspective. The major issue seems to be latency now. When I got switched over to the zoom network, all my latencies went through the roof. I used to get 80ms or so to San Francisco and now I get almost 200ms. DC is usually like 50ms or higher. On clearviews network, seemed I stayed in the 20s. Any info on that?

Thanks
Mike

Any idea when docsis 3 will be rolled out? Im working on a Motorola SB 5200. Will Armstrong be renting modems that are docsis 3 compliant?
