| 3ware 9650SE w/AMD Motherboards search
Hello All.
As Sholling did with the Quad 2 duo core I would like to post a 9650SE 4PML compatibility question thread as I am searching for a new mobo as well....
But this time it is for the AMD side
Currently I have googled and seen occurences of the 9650SE and DFI 790FX M2RS (SB700) and the Gig GA-MA790GP DS4H (SB750) but no verification that these combos run smoothly.
My current rig that the new MOBO will be going into is:
-Watercooled: D-Tek Fuzion WB and Maze 5 GPU
-nVidia 8800GT (one no SLI)
-Mushkin DDR 800 (PC6400) 2 GB (although I may need to update this....)
-Fatality PCI-E sound card
-3 optical drives
-6 hard drives (possible 9 with Addonics HDD add-on; 9650SE needed however)
Wanted to get either input from owners of both products together or if any other info that you all may know then provide links please.

Hmm....
I guess then my question should be of the posters on this forum WHO does HAVE a hardware RAID controller and IS using a 9650SE thus consequently, what mobo are you running it on??
Perhaps that will get more bites...

some amd 780 / 790gx boards are x16 x1 or x8 x8
you may want to get a board that can do x16 and x4 at the same time. |

Well....
First thanks for the reply..
Second lemme tell ya that I did try earlier this year to attempt that and got a M2N32 SLI Deluxe which has a dedicated x4 slot, x1 slot and two x16 slot with the most "stable" BIOS and the card works in NEITHER x16 or the x4 and I can't seem to make it work by adjusting BIOS settings.
Already contacted 3 ware support and combed the ASUS site for possible answers. I really didn't realize how lucky I was with the M2N SLI until the consideration of purchasing a new mobo.
The card has worked from day 1 in a M2N SLI in the second slot (black) and that particular slot is actually hard wired for x8 (despite being advertised for x16) so my hope (and guess) is that the M2RS will be the winner since the third slot on that board is actually x8.
The DS4H is actually rather new but theoretically it should work with that board as well but if you go by theory then all cards can be used in x16 slots and the PCI-E will "automatically downgrade" to the connected peripheral but lemme tell you that that is NOT the case.
I was hoping for some type of clarification from folks here IF they had the components or a similar AMD setup.
