Reprograming FIOS TV Remote

Can the remote be re-programed? I'd love to change the A/V button to toggle between HDMI 1 and HDMI 2 inputs on my AVR. And yes, I have an expensive remote. I'm trying to simply things for my significant other who finally learned to toggle between the DVD and Cable inputs right before I upgraded everything.
