Re: Bandwidth caps are a com'in

I watch youtube videos and stream a lot of music on Rhapsody and AT&T's Webtunes. Is this also considered downloading and effect the cap as well?
Yes of course.

That stinks. Unless of course it is no where near 150GB?

That might not be a lot but I just subscribed to Netflix recently and I can tell you a couple of things.

1) Worthless on AT&T.
2) Very good quality with a fast connection

I use Comcast and even with the 250GB I am becoming concerned. I watched 2 HD streams and used up 9.8GB in less than 5 hrs.

I can think of these caps as being real innovation killers for many uses. An easy one that can be used by many is Netflix and you can clearly do 10+ GB in a day without much problem.

Gaming is also a heavy bandwidth eater. It can easily do GBs in a few hours. There are also plenty of other things to burn bandwidth easily with. Just pointing out like many others have: THE CAPS ON AT&T are massively low. If I was still a customer with AT&T like I was 5 yrs ago I would be complaining.

Gaming does NOT take up gigabytes in a few hours. Not even close. Take a measurement sometime.

i'd like to imagine that your not downloading patches more than you are playing. i don't play WoW. how many patches do they release per month?

personally i figure if your willing to shell out the extra cash for WoW the few extra GBs of transfer can't be that big of a deal. any way you could maybe get the patches from a public site? library, wifi hotspot, work, etc?

cow: my post was more a sarcastic one than fact

although, with the new 360 NXE interface, doing 5GB/day is easy. Thats one HD movie rental or 3-5 netflix streams. Heck, I have probably already done 10GB of transfers since getting NXE...and thats with torrents turned off!

Thats correct. Online gaming doesn't take up gigabytes "every few hours" like he said. You aren't downloading patches every few hours thats for sure. As I said, do a measurement, you will see its not even close to gigabytes every few hours or even a a few hundred megs in that time.

Then don't stick up for your statement and then try to shrug it off as "being sarcastic".

Are you rending one HD movie or 3-5 netflix streams every day? I think thats a little more than most people do. I am a heavy user as well, but I can't top 200gb a month even if my wife and I try hard.

wow....someone needs to lighten up a bit. Obviously you dont play WoW or follow gaming much, otherwise you would have found the humor in my post without me needing to explain it was sarcastic.....
