Re: small pipe, pots taxes, and high rates are deal breakers.... You can't really blame the telcos for most of those taxes & fees (even though a few of them are totally bogus)--the govt has done a really great job there (/sarcasm). You can, however, blame the telcos for how they've broken them out--something they lobbied for (line items) so as to "prove" just how much your bill is not for actual service, which has had entirely the opposite effect that they wanted. The cablecos bills are quite simpler--few line items. The fact that the cableco phone service makes long distance vs. local irrelevant is also a simplicity factor. Will the telcos learn anything from this? Not likely. Will the govt? Very unlikely. |
