or how about they make you let me use your car. its simple the cable companies used there own money to build the system. the phone company used our money to build the system. hell in pennsylvania we paid verizon like 15 years ago to run fiber to every house and we still dont have it. even tho the cable company could technically tap into that free money they dont. because if they do they then they could be made to share the lines. the telephone companies could do the exact thing and not have to pay the fees. start a cable company or phone ccompany and build it with private funds and guess what. they dont have to share or pay the fees. but with free money also comes regulations of sharing. not sharing is a reward for not taking free money. the fees are just a way for the goverment to get our money back that we all also have to pay. the cable companies are just smarter and dont apply for the money. that way they are not saddled with the extra fees and they dont have to share the lines. once you took what amounts to billions of dollars you simply cant say im done with taking it so i dont want to share.

Go ahead and bitch and complain about the USF and how the cablecos built their networks with their own money because that is correct......but they also have always got to choose where they want to build. I can't get cable services of any kind where I live but I can get DSL from VZ due to the phone company (then Contel) having access to that cash. What kind of shape would these cable companies be in if they HAD to supply even basic analog TV service to every living unit that currently has power and phones?

The USF served the purpose it was intended for but I have no idea how it should be handled today. *shrug*

The same state Mcndonalds would be if you made them build a franchise on every street, out of business without any government handouts.

i didnt bitch, it did indeed serve its purpose. but the fact is the phone companies still take money out of it and the cable companies dont. i was just pointing out why the phone company shares and the cable company doesnt have to. and the fact that there isnt anything unfair about it. the phone company ran that line with our money. we all paid it. whats unfair about making a company share a line that we paid for any how. you talk like its a past tense. the phone companies still apply for and recieve the funds. FWIW, i cant get dsl here and i can get cable. even tho i paid them fees all these years. plus i live in pennsylvania where we also paid verizon like 10 years ago to wire the state with fiber.

Of course you are able to get cable in your place. Thats the home state of Comcast. How bad would it look if they left people in their own home state out to dry.

I lived for many years in the home state of Comcast without any access to cable. Of course I didn't bitch as it would have been a suicidal business decision to try and cable up the small rural area I lived in and made a profit. Yes a profit...Horrible thought eh?
