Re: [Hockey] Wellwood performs for Canucks

said by HiVolt:

Wellwood was always a good playmaker... But he was always injured with the Leafs, and could never really reach his potential, and they gave up on him I guess...
The injuries weren't the problem, it was the work ethic. Wellwood was horribly out of shape and barely passed the Canucks fitness test in training camp.

Good for Wellwood. I always liked his skill and its good to see a stint in the minors woke him up.

Worth ethic has never been Wellwood's problem. He was out of shape because he came off a very serious injury and didn't have enough time to get into game shape by training camp.

Wilson didn't like Wellwood because he wouldn't be able to brainwash him the way he has done most of the young Leafs players. So he convinced Leafs management to get rid of him.

Don Cherry is right, the biggest problem facing the Toronto Maple Leafs isn't their players, it's the people running the team.

Brainwash? I think Ron's approach has been pretty effective so far.

lol @ brainwash.

The Leafs haven't done something in a long time, that thing is try hard. Wilson actually makes them try.

There's a big difference between being out of game shape because of injury and actually being called "Pillsbury" by your teammates.
Welly was horribly out of shape. Even Vigneault said so during training camp.
