1 edit | Something just happened in Chicago...
I lost connectivity for about 20 minutes. Modem went offline (online light would constantly blink). Now, I am connected, have a new IP and here is my latest speedtest...
This is nuts! My download could be better, but I am guessing that is a router (WRT150N) or limitation of the speedtest site.
Edit: I just tested on Comcast's 50MB DOCSIS 3 test site (»chicago.speedtest.comcast.net/sp···dex.html) and had the following result: Download Speed: 34174 kbps (4271.8 KB/sec transfer rate) Upload Speed: 5980 kbps (747.5 KB/sec transfer rate) |

| Haha, that's true, but I have tested on the downstream side in the 30+ range for a while now. I realize that's Powerboost doing it's thing. I am on the 16/2 Blast! tier. I pay $69.95/mo, so yeah, it could be better
More importantly is the upload. I have never tested better than about 4000 kb/s. |

| reply to bshelly You only just now noticed the changes? I'm also in Schaumburg and have had constant outages and reboots, plus the faster speeds, since October 20. They are updating everything, presumably to support DOCSIS 3 and the new 12/2 speeds (up from 6/1). They are also setting up 4 frequencies for downloads. During the first week or so, mine kept changing frequencies, but it's settled on 699MHz for the past week or so (it used to be 711MHz.)
On Monday, I had numerous total outages (no TV, no HSI). When taking a walk during lunch (when it was out), I saw two techs working on one of the boxes nearby. I'm guessing they are going around and double-checking things. No total outages since then, but the modem did resync this morning. |

I started getting 30Mbps on download and 9Mbps on the upload with boost when I was previously getting about 20Mbps and 3Mbps or so. Obviously these are only sustained for a short period. I do not know the exact time but it is between 30 secs to 5 mins. Either way. In long tests of maxing my speeds I am indeed capped at 6600/1x00 like I should be. I do not exceed 130KB/s after 10 mins. |
