HN9000 always reveiving data

So I exceeded the FAP last night around 8:00. Now, the problem was, the internet BARELY had gotten used all day. A little in the morning, and then a little after 6:00 when I got home from work and 2 hours later, the FAP was exceeded. I know i didn't browse that much, no videos, no picture full pages.

So I got to looking. On my Reception Info page. I noticed that with nothing going on the received packets keeps rising. The receive light on the modem is constantly flashing now also.

I took a screen shot of it last night. I had 200,000 packets received and 100,000 RX errors. Less than 1000 packets transmitted. Something is not right. I shit off all my PC's, turned off my router and unplugged the CAT5 from the back of the modem. I woke up this morning, with nothing able to receive data turned on except the modem and I now have 19,248,365 packets received. Now, 19,251,419 of those packets are "Management and Signaling IP Datagrams" which makes me think that hughes is sending me this traffic.

Anyone else seen anything like this? Have any suggestions? I have reset the modem, reset the router, rebooted both PC's. I am awaiting a call from "Corporate" so we shall see what they say if I happen to get home early enough to actually talk to them.

It could be that the modem is receiving software updates, which, as far as I know, DO count against the FAP. Is this happening repeatedly in short amounts of time (days, weeks)?

It started after an outage Tuesday night. After that, the receive light has been blinking ever since. Apparently tech support said it was out of their knowledge base and the engineers are working on it. However, even with packets coming in all day I didn't exceed the FAP last night. Although, it was the same amount of browsing that I did Wednesday to exceed it.

Mine does it all the time, says I exceeded FAP even when no one is using the computer, Customer service says it may be software updates for Windows. That is all they will tell me.

After I first plugged back into the internet after 4 months, I've been on FAP that last week because of all the updates.

The 9000 modem receive light always blinks at about 1 flash per second.

Set your windows updates to happen during the free period or on demand. Motive which is a program that should be installed on your machine at installation should have set windows updates to the free period. There was considerable issues early on getting the software to install. THere is a web page we use to correct a failed installation of the software.

Is there a link for the Motive program?

Thanks!

it does no good to set your windows update time. It only controls when updates are installed, not when they are downloaded. Turn off all auto updates and do manualy.
Better yet manualy during free time.
