Help with toilet needed (not enough water in bowl)

Hi,

I have a problem with my toilet not refilling fully bowl with water after flash (about 10% refilled only). If I open tank then I see a lot of water gushing through filler valve during flash and very little coming through overflow tube.

What would be solution for this problem?

Thanks,
G

Simplest fix is to replace the whole fill valve assembly.

These are pretty cheap, usually around $10

Simplest fix is to re-adjust the float to only shut down the valve when it reaches the proper level. Probably it also needs to be tightened to the rod driving the valve.

Tank is filled to fullest, the problem is that water gushing from filler valve is much more then water going out to overflow tube (I compared to other toilets in my house).

Is the water coming out of the problem overflow tube the same, or much less, than the other toilet you compare flows with?

I've seen this on a new toilet the tubing going from the valve to the overflow tube is very cheap plastic and was kinked, restricting the flow.

If I disconnect filler valve tube going to overflow tube then there is fountain going directly into a tank from filler valve and very tiny amount going out through pipe destined to overflow tube.

Are you getting a "good flush"? Your problem might be a clogged toilet drain.

Flush is good, just not enough water coming through overflow valve to refill bowl I beleive.

It appears that the diaphragm or seal under the 4-screw top cap is shot.

The ballcock (fill valve) in the tank is either a HooverLine or a Coast (who furnished them to most all toilet manufacturers for years).

Since one brand won't retrofit into another, try writing down all that is printed on the top cap to see if you can buy a replacement.

An alternative, as others have noted, is to replace the entire ballcock with a Fluidmaster kind. This would eliminate the float rod and ball. Most all home centers as well as hardware stores stock replacement diaphragms for them.

Looks like the flap is closing too early, move the float down a bit...
Oh and wash that toiled bowl...

You better replace the whole assembly like others also suggested before something more serious happens like water overflowing and water damage as result.Like mentioned it's not expensive and use the Fluidmaster if available

Buy a repair kit and fix the broken diaphragm in the flush valve. Then fix the float level to have the water stop right at the top edge of the overflow tube unless you see the fill line in the upper tank, then use that mark instead.

It is easy to fix and is made to be repaired since it has 4 easy to remove screws instead of rivets right in the top.

Your old flush valve is a better build and is made to outlast you. Don't toss it, repair it.
