the new pdanet software (for jailbroken iphone) requires none of that nonsense. all tcpip apps work and no proxy config. fyi

Hilliard, OH		 no problem. my only complaint is you still have to manually set up and activate your ad-hoc wireless. I can't see why that's not built in, but its still pretty easy.
