I have had these windows repaired and the double pane window was an insert that went into the trim. The integrity of the seal didn't rely on the trim at all. Moisture or discoloration usually will be apparent when the seal is broken. |

| reply to robbin said by robbin :Why would you think the integrity of the double pane is compromised because the frame has separated? My exact thought. Maybe a visual is needed? Sealed unit without the frame

| reply to dolphins If that is a double pane window with any type of Low-E or argon type gas feature, you should consider replacing the pane. The integrity of that window's energy saving features is most likely compromised.
I had some old, Anderson double-paned window where the frame started separating from the window. I ended up using a large vice to squeeze it back together and used a 3" screw to seal it back together. It worked well. This year, I had all the windows in my home replaced and the screw was still hanging tough. Not sure if that's an option in your case. |

1 edit | reply to djrobx I would use clear silicone on the inside and Red Hot where vinyl meets vinyl.

| Window | Frame coming loose |
My home is about 10 years old. When trying to open the window today, a part of the frame surrounding the glass came loose. See photos.
The glue inside is gooey. Looking at the other similar windows around the house, it seems like they used a softer glue on one side. Is that to facilitate replacing the glass?
What type of glue should I use to repair this? Thanks! -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. Delivered.
