CV passes 4.5 million homes. An industry HIGH percentage of homes, over 70% subscribe to CV's services in one way or another. Most cable companies only have 30-40% and in many areas as low as 15%. what's the percentage of homes passed and using FIOS in Miami? I have family there that live in condos, and they can't even get HD TV from their cable company let alone a rewire for FIOS.
CV laid 40,000 miles of cable to build the system here to cover northern NJ, LI, and So. Conn. It cost $5 Billion back in the late 90's. They don't cover Manhattan (TW country) but do the other boroughs. That's as much cable as Verizon is laying to do 50% of West Virgina (and WVa is certainly not as profitable per mile). That's MORE cable than they (So Korea's government) laid to give 90% of So. Korea high speed bandwidth.
Unlike early FIOS adopters whose $29/mo specials have run out and found they were in for a shocker - and causing many to switch back, CV has only raised rates on TV signals and box/remote rentals. OOL has stayed the same price for 6 years now. OV pricing hasn't changed (I pay $15/mo after discounts). There are no Federal Fees or Taxes controlled by the FCC on my bill, no billing errors either.
Miami? Doesn't even come close....it's a cheap easy lay...and they didn't do alot of high rises... | |

I believe OV went up last year when they raised prices for their television service and forgot to tell people that their Optimum Rewards discount was being cut by $5/month. That discount applies to your Optimum Voice line item on the bill. So OV has gone up in price. It should be interesting to see how they "raise" prices this year. The announcement has been made, of course there will probably be a further reduction in the rewards discount to bury an even steeper increase. We shall see soon. | |
