If you are a Comcast customer, then you already have a bandwidth monitor - in the free McAfee security package tools:Open Security Center/Tools/Traffic Monitor.

I don't know if this is a new or old feature, but I am amazed that there has been so much fuss about Comcast not supplying a metering solution. Apparently even Comcast doesn't know about it.

Me, I have a Linksys BEFSR41 which I believe cannot load Tomato.

As to your question: Tomato is a small, lean and simple replacement firmware for Linksys' WRT54G/GL/GS, Buffalo WHR-G54S/WHR-HP-G54 and other Broadcom-based routers.

So one router is too old, the other too new. With both working just fine, I'm hard pressed to spend another $40 or so to get another one just to run Tomato. I doubt I'm anywhere near the 250GB cap, and am not bitching about the cap per se, just repeating that Comcast has an obligation to deliver on its meter promise.
