Did your Fios Equipment Charges go up?I just got my FIOS bill and they raised the prices of all the STBs and DVRs. I didn't see any notice in prior bills and the rep didn't even know about it until she researched my bill and asked someone else. Pretty significant, too. Standard STB went up $3. I asked why I wasn't notified and she said that Verizon can raise the prices anytime they want...and no notice is needed. Very nice policy, huh? |

You have to be more specific. Did you get them on a promotion? What price were you paying and what are they now? |
|
|
No promotion. They are the prices that were in effect when I got Fios last Feb. Standard STB up from 4.99 to 5.99. Cable card up from 2.99 to 3.99. |

The standard boxes have been $5.99 since January, they let you slide on the old price for a year. |
|
|
I hear you, but if I was sliding all this time...then that is news to me. Even the rep didn't say anything about me having prices below the published rate. Oh well, not much I can do now. |

Do you have a contract with them. If so, they can't raise your prices. And if you don't, you might want to get some bundle deal and lock in your price for a year as no contract may wind up costing you a lot after a while. |

I asked, and was told that my contract only covers the service cost and not the equipment. There is no contract for equipment. That's why they can change the prices at any time. |

Correct, the bundle is not for the equipment. |

Actually, it was the price of my DVR that they raised $3.00. There were so many partial credits and new charges on the bill that I thought it was the STB, but it was really the DVR. |

I was charged in my November bill for the "free" digital adapter. The charge was usually followed by a credit. This month no credit. I called and they said they were having a problem. I did get transferred 3 times, before they fixed it. My advice is set aside an hour and call customer blling. Taking a valium before the call helps too. |

I have not yet gotten my Nov. bill but I ordered FiOS in mid-Jan and the Std STB was $4.99 at that time.
I was installed on Feb 14. Ever since that time I have been paying $4.99 for the Std STB and $15.99 (less a $7.98 movie pack promo discount) for the HD-DVR.
My two free DTC 700 converters do not even show up on the bill. They are, however, listed (usually) on my TV services page, except right now I get this message: "Your STB record cannot be found." so no boxes are listed.
My Nov bill should be available tomorrow. |

Just got the November bill... same as last month - they billed me for the "free" digital adapter, then credited it. If a more stupid and confusing billing process exists, I have yet to find it. The billing application must have been authored by government employees! So far, I am 3 for 3 with perfect billing. Even after upgrading mid-month to the Extreme HD package, they stumbled & bumbled their way to a correct bill. It was 8 pages worth of nonsense... but, it was correct. |

You may not have yet found a more stupid and confusing billing process, but I hear Verizon is working on one. To be released in 2009. |

Sounds like your bill just got some how goofed up but honestly, when I check on the Verizon site for price of equipment, I don't see any difference from a year ago, I don't think.. check here, these should be the rates for equipment... » www22.verizon.com/Reside ··· view.htm |

At the end of Jan, this year, the rental for the Std STB went from $4.99 to $5.99/mo. I thought the HD-DVR was originally $12.99 but, in checking my notes from when I signed up, it was $15.99 as of 01/18/08. I just got my Nov. bill and the Std STB rental is still $4.99. My bill total hasn't changed but a few pennies (taxes, fees) since the initial whopper I received when I first got service - that one was for about a period of a month and a half. My freebie DCT-700's are still not listed anywhere on it. |

I will add that since my Feb install, no two bills have been the exact same amount. They always vary slightly. I get additions, credits, you name it. I never bothered to phone Verizon because the differences were not enough to justify the painful effort.
The rep told me they were going through the accounts and adjusting all of us who were underpaying, so keep an eye out.
Also, I checked my balance online today to verify the credits. Two credits of three were missing, and the total due did not foot when you added up the items. I had to phone again. But the rep seemed to see the corrected amount on his end. So, don't assume the online screens are correct, either. |
