Re: Obama confirms he will create post of US chief technology..
There's no lack of technical talent. And there's no lack of concern for science and math as evidenced by the sheer number of people who take Advanced Placement exams in those areas. The only area to show any dropoff in test takers has been computer science.
Parents and students probably correctly view careers in most engineering and computer related fields as poor choices given outsourcing and insourcing pressures not to manage overall managerial incompetence that drives away talent and leaves drones.
We don't have a lot parents encouraging their kids to become wheelwrights even though it requires immense technical skill because those jobs have (mostly) vanished.
Missed. My. Point. Are you independently contracting them for services? No, you're not-your local gov't is, and gets a deep discount. If you can't grasp that premise, the rest of your statement is just pointless.
So - YOU had a bad experience. Ho hum. There's 300 million people in the U.S., and you had a bad time, so therefore, no one else could be even marginally satisfied with their services. Yeah, good times.
