So 4 tech visits down and still no resolution since the issue (I believe) isn't in my house! 3 times field maintenance guys were supposed to follow up but there's no way to tell (except the problem is still there).
Simply the problem is that with any of my 3 personal computers or work laptop hooked up directly to the Adbit cable modem, my download speeds are laughably a notch above dial up. All the time. No networking in place so we can diagnose when Comcast pings me. Started in July. Continued through August. When the hurricane tore out the cable lines to our neighborhood, I thought it would get fixed as part of the repair. Took a month to have repaired but no difference and another tech visit, escalation to field maintenance after ... same result. No change.
A little research leads me to this forum. Read a bunch of posts and it seems time to post my numbers to see if there is anything I can do so here goes and thanks for any help people can offer...

No security software. No firewall. Fully updated Windows XP. Been trying to run a tweak test but keeps timing out (not hanging). Installed Google chrome this weekend just to process pages a little faster (and the prefetch seems to help the user feel a little).
Any thoughts? Thanks, Chuck |

Are the techs that have visited saying they don't see a problem or are they saying that they need to escalate the issue to another department (line techs) and you're having trouble following up with them? |

| Interestingly they are telling me "no problem" and then turning the case over to line techs. I never have heard from a line tech subsequently (or been able to follow up with one because no way to contact). I dare not ask why they refer up if there's no problem but I have made sure that they agree there is no problem after where the line comes to my house. Thanks |

1 edit | I would send an e-mail to We_Can_Help@cable.comcast.com and explain the situation to them as you did in the first post of this topic and see if they can follow up to see if line maintenance has looked at the issue and if they haven't, is there an ETA? In the e-mail to them, I would also include either the account number and/or the phone number attached to the account so they can look up the history. |

| Solved solved solved! Many thanks to AVonGauss' suggestion to send an email toe We_Can_Help@cable.comcast.com since that is what finally prompted a diagnostic technician call. He confirmed the SNR problem, checked a few things to confirm I wasn't the problem and then pronounced it a bad modem. He got a little frustrated that his predecessors never even tried the modem (or check the SNR for that matter). Nice guy doing a good job with pride. Thanks! |
