And there's no lack of concern for science and math as evidenced by the sheer number of people who take Advanced Placement exams in those areas. The only area to show any dropoff in test takers has been computer science. <br><br>Parents and students probably correctly view careers in most engineering and computer related fields as poor choices given outsourcing and insourcing pressures not to manage overall managerial incompetence that drives away talent and leaves drones.<br><br>We don't have a lot parents encouraging their kids to become wheelwrights even though it requires immense technical skill because those jobs have (mostly) vanished. ]]></description>
